What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Direct Purchasing Manager to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.
What you will be doing:
Departmental Management: Monitor and provide coaching and feedback to direct reports. Oversee and offer input to the departmental cost center's annual operating expense budget. Conduct annual evaluations of direct reports and recommend compensation. Cascade annual objectives from leadership to develop goals for direct reports. Report monthly status against objectives and key performance indicators, taking necessary action to meet targets. Implement career development and training plans for direct reports.
Category Management: Ensure the OEM Minority Based Enterprises (MBE) targets are addressed. Maintain and update the Category Strategy quarterly. Enforce the Category Strategy with direct reports. Lead the Global Category Team representing YNA. Identify potential new sub-categories for sourcing. Support the creation of departmental annual forecast spend and savings. Collaborate with the Global Purchasing Team (including Europe, Brazil, India, Mexico, China, and Japan). Track spending/savings on sub-categories. Develop sourcing strategies for each category and sub-category. Monitor supplier relationships. Oversee sourcing and contracting for new business, supporting negotiation with suppliers as necessary.
What you will bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5 to 8+ years of previous automotive purchasing experience
Travel: 10-20% local, regional, national, and international
Language skills: Primary English, Spanish preferred, Japanese encouraged
Proficiency in navigating complex project environments and adept at comprehending purchasing and program objectives from both global and local viewpoints
Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking
Ability to think and act logically under pressure
Ability to resolve issues or propose resolutions to responsible parties
Must work independently and collaboratively
