Division Director, Diagnostic Imaging

With the physician dyad partner, this position is responsible for driving the strategic growth and development of the service line to create a regional center of excellence and value across the continuum. This position is primarily responsible for the administrative and strategic development functions for Diagnostic Imaging Service Line as defined in the Diagnostic Imaging Service Line Operating Council Charter.

The Organization

CHI Health is a regional health network with a unified mission: nurturing the healing ministry of the Church while creating healthier communities. Headquartered in Omaha, the combined organization consists of 15 hospitals, two stand-alone behavioral health facilities and more than 150 employed physician practice locations in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa. With locations stretching from Kearney, NE to Corning, IA the health network is the largest in Nebraska and serves residents of Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northern Kansas.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Diagnostic Imaging Service Line Senior Executive(s)

  • Direct Reports: Ministry Leaders, administrative support

  • Matrix Relationships: Diagnostic Imaging Leaders

  • Key Collaborators: Horizontal/Vertical leaders (hospital presidents, physician enterprise, academic enterprise)


  • Closely collaborate with dyad/triad leadership partners to effectively oversee the service line across the continuum.

  • Responsible for development of multi-horizon service line strategy and action plans in alignment with movement toward value-based care.

  • Develop and implement business plans to integrate, optimize and grow service line across the continuum of care. Develop non-traditional services that meet the needs of consumers outside traditional hospital settings.

  • Develop, monitor and utilize comprehensive, balanced scorecard including cost, quality and experience metrics designed to ensure service line is delivering value. Identify metrics that measure value in non-traditional, non-hospital centric terms.

  • Responsible for development and administration of capital budgets in alignment with strategic direction to ensure financial health of the service line across the continuum, and coordination with operational leaders to determine impact on operational budgets.

  • Partner with medical staff and physician enterprise leadership to develop and strengthen relationships and engagement with closely aligned providers in all markets across the continuum.

  • In collaboration with Creighton University and other academic partners, identify educational opportunities and allocate appropriate resources in support of service line specific research, development and training opportunities for the next generation of health professionals.

  • Participate in provider recruitment efforts from establishing priorities to interviewing and selecting candidates.

  • Oversees provider and staff development plans and retention efforts.

  • Determine the distribution and rationalization of services, and appropriate allocation of resources to support the service delivery model.

  • Aggressively pursues market through growth, innovation and other new business development opportunities within the service line.

  • Responsible for coordination of accreditation and licensure activities.

  • Determine facility and technology needs to support service line delivery model.

  • Works collaboratively with Marketing, Communications and Public Relations to develop marketing and communication tactics that support service line strategies and direction.

  • Oversee existing and potential joint ventures and other partnerships in support of the direction of the service line.

  • Co-Chair Service Line Operating Council; Provide consultative leadership to other service line leadership and operating council.

  • Responsible for assuring appropriate management practice, maintenance of appropriate staffing levels, competency assessment, staff orientation, ongoing education and development in all areas of responsibility.

  • Must possess strong knowledge/application of systems framework, excellent strategic thinking skills, demonstrated resource, management and stewardship skills, strong team orientation, strong customer-focus, demonstrated ability to lead/implement change activities, demonstrated skills in influencing through relationships, excellent analytical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, techniques, protocols and tools/equipment relating to clinical operations in a healthcare environment.

  • Ability to plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinate management staff, and to oversee the activities of managers with a matrixed relationship.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as required by the duties of the position.



  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science, Healthcare Administration or related field

  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities, including four years in a supervisory or management capacity in a healthcare delivery organization.


  • Master's degree in healthcare administration or related field, or enrollment in a related Master's degree program, is strongly preferred.

Detailed responsibilities will include all the following: * Build and launch an integrated data and analytics approach for GCCI. This includes a renewed focus on reporting and analytical capabilities within GCCI to help proactively identify end to end operational and control improvement opportunities * Lead the internal control responsibility for the GCO organization, in concert with the First Line of Defense (FLOD) Internal Controls COE and ERCS * Responsible for project leadership across GCO for key regulatory / Audit initiatives and exams * Create a culture of strong control discipline across the GCO operational units, focused on self-identification of control gaps, leveraging of FLOD testing results, as well as 2nd & 3rd line risk assessments and exam results * Identify, develop and deliver strategic initiatives cutting across the different GCCI teams, inclusive of areas such as training, budgets, One Team developmental initiatives, communications and the like * Leads strategic planning process for GCCI in close collaboration with the leadership team. * Build and maintain credibility throughout the organization as a strategic advisor. * Drive establishment and refinement of metrics that give visibility into opportunities, insight into root cause and accountability for improvement around identified risks, identify testing and monitoring recommendations for operational controls * Integrate various and disparate data sources and compile coherent MIS that helps GCCI and GCO better understand the performance of their operations, risk assessments and effectiveness of their controls * Create and manage effective, scalable processes to manage operating rhythms such as operating reviews, metrics/analytics, staff meetings, global visits, and operating excellence processes.
