Dir, Strategic Sourcing - Memphis TN
This leader will be responsible for all global Indirect spend categories of Wright Medical, in strong partnership with functional and business stakeholders. Will lead, develop and build a company-wide global indirect category management and procurement operating model, including processes and policies to support indirect sourcing and purchasing aligned to annual and 3 year goals. Responsible for the Procure to Pay process from a Procurement standpoint (preferred supplier set-up, maintenance, work flow, pricing data). Aligns global procurement processes, policies and standards with Finance, IT and Legal requirements. Works with IT and Finance to establish the end to end process for compliance admin.
Essential Job Functions:
Understand the strategic goals, requirements and operational needs of business stakeholders, and collaborates with them to develop sourcing strategies necessary to position the best suppliers to serve those needs putting the company in a competitive advantage.
Will lead, develop and build a company-wide global indirect category management and procurement operating model, including processes and policies to support indirect sourcing and purchasing aligned to annual and 3 year goals
Achieves annual and long-range cost down, value improvement, supplier performance, technology roadmap, and supplier relationship / development goals.
Streamlines and cultivates the supply base operationally across business groups to continuously leverage spend and improve purchasing power of Wright Medical.
Continually lower total supply line costs through supplier development, negotiations and continual process innovation.
Lead, mentors and develops category managers, analyst and tactical buyers to achieve organizational objectives and plans
Conceive, sell and lead programs and projects with business groups and/or functions to realize total cost down objectives and/or realization of new processes or services.
Leads and supports the negotiations of supply and services agreements with strategic supplier base of Indirect spend.
Supervises direct reports. Establishes individual performance objectives and reviews performance against goals. Provides counseling. Plans, approves, and implements programs for the timely development and progression of the individuals. Plans and grants salary increases as appropriate. Handles discipline and documentation steps in problem employee situations
Stays abreast of procurement trends, disruptive technologies and practices that could complement or threaten current procurement approaches of the organization
Budgets the cost and benefits that will be delivered from the team for business planning purposes.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Requires in-depth knowledge of global indirect spend Procurement processes, methods and strategic sourcing strategies.
Prior global category management with spend under management > $50M.
Contract negotiations, shape/apply processes and policies.
Ability to influence global functional / cross functional team members, peers, superiors and external supplier executives.
Ability to effectively communicate and present information to subordinates, sr. management and executives of supply partners.
Ability to lead, coach and develop subordinates to achieve objectives, continuous improvement and resolve complex problems.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts / analysis to projects / opportunities in strategic sourcing and procurement, including budgeting, understanding of impact to income or working capital, Fx analysis, business case justifications (NPV, IRR).
Experience with a ERP Procurement Module (e.g. SAP, Dynamics AX Procurement module), MS Project preferred.
Practical experience with spend analysis and eSourcing, supplier development.
Demonstrated experience in lean process development and design principles such as Lean Six Sigma training/certification, (and/or PMP, PMI, APICS, CSCMP certifications preferred).
Understanding of Financials (P&L, working capital, budgeting accountability).
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:: Manage exempt (Category managers) and Category Analysts.
Previous people supervision experience is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain management or equivalent, and a minimum 10 years in directly relevant work experience.
A Master's degree plus 6 years' experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience, relevant experience including materials management of technical product manufacturing (preferred).
