Primary administrative and program responsibility for clinical practice and university-school partnerships for educator preparation.
Job Description
The Director of Educator Engagement and Student Success will be part of a team of educators committed to the success of the clinical practice of all education majors at UNCP, including teacher education candidates and school administration and school counseling interns. The Director, reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, will work with all education majors throughout their programs of study to ensure appropriate supervised education placements occur.
Relying on strong relational skills, dynamic engagement, up-to-date knowledge of best practices, and a coaching perspective, the Director will work with faculty, supervisors, clinical educators, and K-12 LEA stakeholders to enhance orientation, training, and continuing education opportunities. The Director will build, maintain, and assess meaningful clinical experiences maintaining relationships with students from pre-enrollment to their first three years of teaching. The Director will work with other Directors in the School of Education to address curriculum, recruitment and retention, and assessment initiatives. The Director will lead the unit's accreditation efforts as related to clinical practice.
The Director will have primary administrative and program responsibility for clinical practices and university-school partnerships that lead to the development of effective educators and enhance the impact of the School of Education on regional student success. The Director will serve as the primary liaison to regional LEAs collecting and sharing information in a reciprocal partnership. The Director will work with the leadership of the School of Education to develop, implement, and communicate the vision of clinical practice for educator preparation in the region. The Director will possess a deep understanding of the broad possibilities for clinical practice, service, and leadership that are possible for the students and faculty affiliated with educator preparation.
Essential Duties
Supervise administrative support associate
Oversight of clinical practice placements and field experiencesincluding service learning, and internship
Maintenance of handbook, calendar, forms, data related to clinicalpractice
Oversee licensure exam support initiatives with current students andregional educators
Accreditation compliance and continuous improvement in clinicalpractice
Serve on Leadership Team and Council of Educator PreparationPrograms
Budget management
Coordinate with regional initiatives and other campus offices tosupport educator preparation
Liaison with all SOE stakeholders (LEA partners, departments,programs, faculty, students)
Seek external funding to support initiatives
Management Preference
Doctorate in Education or related area.
Prior experience delivering presentations to professional audiences
Lic or Certification required by statute or regulation
