External Description: Production Dir

Major Accountabilities
1.Responsible for directing production, quality, facilities & maintenance, production engineering, safety, materials, procurement, finance, and human resources within the operation while partnering with internal & external partners to ensure execution and improvement across all key performance metrics including cost, quality, safety, new product launch and delivery.
2.Drives year over year cost and efficiency improvements to improve gross margins.
3.Implements plans and programs to enable best-in-class operating procedures and drive continuous rates of improvement in productivity, capacity utilization, reduced costs (labor, materials, waste/rework, and inventory), quality and safety.
4.Promotes and maintains a safe working environment for employees.
5.Ensures supply chain & operational readiness for new product launches and related metrics (i.e. on-time start of production, manufacturing cycle time and quality).
6.Plans, directs, organizes and coordinates all of the operations and activities relating to product manufacturing and production control to streamline the systems and improve material flow.
7.Maintains and builds customer relationships and leads teams in the development of new customer initiatives, including joint teams to address key areas for improvement.
8.Coordinates all manufacturing activities with business, core manufacturing plants, sales, engineering and quality teams to ensure that product requirements and quality standards are met.
9.Acts as owner and steward for product quality and quality improvements.
10. Builds a culture of high performance and continuous improvement, using lean standard work at a fundamental level to create a culture that ensures all personnel are using standard work in the execution of duties.
11. Develops annual business plans for departmental expenses as well as managing inventory and production plans. Minimizes excess and obsolete inventory.
12. Responsible for the development of managers and team members. Develops and maintains objectives, development plans, performance reviews and succession plans.
13. Fosters positive employee relations and high employee engagement.
14. Charters, facilitates, and leads teams to execute transformational improvement initiatives with direct and indirect labor.
15. Manages all capital projects to ensure implementation is within timeline, budget, and expected payback.
16. Community involvement and leadership.

  • A seasoned and knowledgeable manufacturing executive who has led large-scale manufacturing plants through all phases of development, including start-up, growth, and mature organizations. Deep and impressive experience managing complex operations with a wide geographic scope and network. Proven ability to assess and improve an operation and knowledge of the latest technology trends.

  • Exceptional leadership, team, and people skills. An individual who can set the vision and strategy aligned with the overall business. In addition, he or she must be able to set the metrics and hold people accountable to achieving the desired results. Finally, this executive must be a change agent who can develop and motivate his team to higher levels of accomplishment.

  • Relationship Building, influencing and interpersonal skills: Ability to develop deep relationships with third party leaders and with key executives and directors at Polaris.

  • High Potential and Promotable: An individual that has a proven track record of advancement and is highly promotable.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of manufacturing engineering/leadership in heavy assembly/automotive industries, including previous leadership experience as Plant Manager of large or multi-site production facilities.

  • Strong preference for Electrical and Mechanical Assembly expertise

  • Leadership capabilities to achieve two levels of promotion.

  • Plant leadership, including driving key metrics and culture.

  • Union or positive employee relations experience.

  • Robust experience and education on lean or similar continuous improvement systems.

  • 4 year degree in engineering or business related field required, masters preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to be hands-on in the operation.

  • Willingness and ability to develop talent.

Experience integrating mergers and acquisitions.

Summary Our Battle Ground facility is looking for a Box Builder to work 1st shift in our Shipping Department. This position requires the handling of lumber, glass, and various other products related to the glass industry. As a Box Builder, you will cut lumber and assemble cut lumber into boxes and crates, using hand tools or power tools. The process involves measuring, marking, and sawing boards to specified size using a ruler, pencil, and power saws. The builder then assembles and nails boards together, using a hammer, power stapler, or pneumatic gun. You may need to salvage used crating by removing nails from boards with a hammer, nail puller, or crowbar and by sawing ends with portable electric handsaw. You are also responsible for sealing and loading packages/crates which involves labeling and marking containers, weighing, measuring, counting products and materials, examining and inspecting materials; and transporting packages. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Building boxes, crates, or containers according to shipping needs, orders, or supervisors' specifications ensuring that the crates/boxes are accurately built * You will prepare the boxes by putting lining or padding material to protect items during shipment * You must pack items according to shipping needs, orders or supervisors' specifications ensuring that the crates/boxes and packages are accurately packed * Work without constant supervision and work quickly * Completing clerical tasks with the ability to use shop floor computer * Inspect and examine products to make sure they meet our specifications for quality and aren't damaged * On/off-loading of glass from, tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates for eight or more hours daily * Our manufacturing facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.) * You will also be responsible for cleaning the shipping area and ensuring all safety procedures are followed * Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job Requirements * High School Diploma or GED equivalent * Flexible availability including the ability to switch starting times and/or overtime and weekends when necessary Physical Requirements * Ability to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted many times in a regular work shift * Muscular, cardiovascular and upper/lower body manipulation is used to move the glass/object through the glass fabrication process (bending, twisting, and reaching) * Gripping, cupping, clamping hand and wrist motions are required to support, carry, and maneuver glass/objects to platform heights of three feet in a manner considered safe for self and others * Able to wear approved steel toed boots with Metatarsal for a minimum of 8-10 hours on concrete floors * The facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.) Preferences * Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment * Ability to read and use a tape measure * Understand units of measurement and be able to perform general mathematical equations * Previous experience using power tools and handheld tools * Read, understand and communicate paperwork and labels * Basic computer skills and knowledge Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
