Genie Industries/Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, is headquartered in Redmond, WA with branch offices worldwide; we manufacture material lifts, aerial work platforms, trailer-mounted booms and light towers, telehandlers, scissor lifts and self-propelled telescopic and articulating booms. This position directs and oversees all product management activities for Terex AWP (Genie) globally, supporting new and existing products, and providing excellent support to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Understand markets, customers, and economics to fully develop quality and profitable product lines through the NPPD process.
Manage the complete breadth of parts product lines understanding inter- and intra-market relationships.
Be able to support the products globally and present on them as needed
Fully support the AWP parts department regarding products, product performance, markets, pricing, revenue, profit and competition.
Have excellent information processing and communications skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
Fully understand and embrace the short and long term vision of Terex AWP.
Fully understand AWP's multi-functional business and work as a team member with all functional areas of the company.
Drives the execution of strategic product plans through extensive knowledge and research of customer needs, market trends, customer/market segmentation, distribution channel characteristics, target market size, external environmental and economic trends, and financial analysis.
Manages activities that benefit the entire PM team (e.g. Standardized processes)
Creates, manages and executes new product introduction strategies.
Develops and executes pricing strategies, fully understanding Genie product value versus the competition.
Supports Genie capacity planning and capital investment planning.
Works effectively with the training to provide support in developing new and effective product training.
Develops long term product strategies.
Identifies and implements new product offerings.
Leads development of the marketing plans to support the business plan and strategy.
Provides vision for the overall marketing campaign to support the business plan and strategy.
Coaches, influences and educates others as to the business aspects of their product and market responsibilities.
Assists with developing marketing campaigns and parts sales programs that improve brand image and drive volume, as well as working with product support to ensure customers receive full value from their Genie products.
Communicates with customers on product specific issues and new opportunities.
Drives product specific market research to support product development team, including frequent customer visits/meetings to better understand our business.
Maintains current knowledge of the competitive products and projects future strategies by competitors.
Makes recommendations for innovative solutions to improve our short-term and long-term competitive position, including cost downs and improved market share.
Identifies opportunities for differentiation of our products and industry leadership.
Manages NPPD programs from start to finish for new products, following the Product Road Map strategy and the Gate Review process.
Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position and the Enterprise.
Suggests pricing strategies, analyze new business ventures, and assist key customers with marketing information and strategies.
Knowledge and Skills
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing is required
8-10 years of product and marketing management experience; additional experience can substitute for formal education
Aftermarket business experience
Knowledge of business financials, business principles, and business processes
Strong focus on customer responsiveness
Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices involved in new business development, product marketing, and sales
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships, prepare and deliver formal presentations
Understanding of the manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, financial, and product support process
Well-developed problem solving skills
Strong time management skills
Leadership under ambiguity
This position requires travel worldwide (25-50%)
