Job Summary

This role develops, advances, and oversees the analytics & reporting strategy and teams for the physician practice plans.

Areas of analysis include financial/general ledger data, volume and variance data, reimbursement and reserve model analytics, managed care contract analytics, and ad hoc reporting requests.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy:

  • Formulate short-term and long-term informatics strategies, and translate strategies into analytic and reporting solutions including data architecture and reporting tools.

  • Lead utilization and integration of complex data sets including clinical electronic medical records, financial, operational data and research data.

  • Evaluate and identify new tools and opportunities in informatics, technology, and business intelligence.

Execution:

  • Direct development of reports and analyses to support business decisions including for service volume, reimbursement trends, payor relations, and financial performance.

  • Provide analytic models and scenarios for strategies including proposed contracts, volume trends, strategic pricing, and incentive/quality bonus performance.

  • Develop and support revenue modeling methodology to inform reporting and analyses

  • Lead charge analysis by analyzing payor utilization and annual price changes.

Communication:

  • Collaborate to prioritize customer needs, allocate resources, and ensure analytic utilization with hospital, practices, functional and department teams.

  • Collaborate to review contractual performance, ensure compliance with terms, identify changes and resolve conflicts.

  • Initiate and lead data governance / stewardship teams, and facilitate related information sharing.

  • Participate and lead committees / forums to ensure analytic alignment and satisfaction

Management:

  • Hire, develop and manage staff.

  • Create and manage relationships with key leaders, stakeholders and constituents.

  • Stay current with functional and industry developments.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Required Experience:

  • Five (5) years of business intelligence / analytics experience

  • Three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare related environment

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Master's or Advanced Degree in computer related field

Preferred Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of business intelligence / analytics experience

  • Seven (7) years of supervisory or managerial experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience in a healthcare related environment

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of financial management systems (Workday, Lawson)

  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence tools (Strata)

  • Advanced knowledge of electronic medical record software (EPIC)

  • Advanced knowledge of database management and systems, including complex data structures and manipulation of large data sets

  • Advanced knowledge of organizational change management

  • Advanced proficiency in information technology project and processes management

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on data

  • Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy to understand manner

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
