DINING SERVICES ASSISTANT
Washington County currently has a great opportunity as a limited hour (20 hours per week) Dietary Aide within the Washington County Samaritan Campus. Under the general supervision of the Director of Food Service and Assistant Food Service Supervisor, assists in the preparation and serving of food and maintaining clean and sanitary facilities within the Samaritan Health Center. This position entails working day shift hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or the candidate can work the afternoon shift from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Hours will include every other weekend and rotating holidays.
Qualified candidates must possess:
Be 16 years old
High school diploma or GED (Or in progess).
Some previous work experience in large scale food preparation preferred.
A negative tuberculin test by the first day of employment.
Starting hourly rate is $10.73.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Food Service and Assistant Food Service Supervisor, assists in the preparation and serving of food and maintaining clean and sanitary facilities within the Samaritan Health Center.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or allinclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Coordinates satellite kitchen, including, delivery of food, preparing and portioning food items, serving food, supplying food, and dispensing beverages.
Assists in the preparation of foods, such as cleaning and cutting fruits and vegetables, preparing simple puddings and gelatins and assisting the Cook with salads and desserts. Assists with overall preparation of meals and food as assigned by the Supervisor.
Assists with meal preparation and clean up for Meals & Wheels Program.
Assists in the maintenance of the food service area.
Unloads dishwasher and removes clean pots and pans from sink and returns cleaned dishes to the proper storage area.
Cleans and sanitizes food service area, satellite kitchen and equipment, including coolers, toasters, and serving counter. Washes walls, ceilings, floors, and windows.
Maintains accurate records of food served and the amount served.
Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies.
Attends in-services as required by the Supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
Work Direction Received:
Works under the general direction of the Director of Food Service and Assistant Food Service Supervisor.
Decisions concerning work priorities and other daily activities are made according to defined procedures with the incumbent expected to contribute to the decision-making process by collecting necessary information and providing suggestions to others for their decision-making. Problem-solving typically involves routine procedure or process matters where the required response requires choosing from alternatives having relatively equal effect.
There is interaction with residents, guests, other outside services, delivery drivers and the Meals on Wheels program and all Samaritan divisions.
Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to interpret, understand and effectively carry out oral and/or written dietary orders and instructions and interact effectively with co-workers and other employees. Ability to prioritize and organize day to day kitchen activities within the satellite kitchen. Knowledge of a variety of foods, their preparation and service, food supplements, and the use and care of dishes and kitchen utensils. Ability to use and understand weights and measures. Knowledge of the sanitary methods to be used in food preparation and related activities. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (multi-tasking, concentration, conceptualization, memorization). Ability to lift and move objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds.
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Previous work experience in large scale food preparation preferred. A negative tuberculin test results prior to the first day of employment. Good reading, comprehension and writing skills.
