Job Summary

Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist. Set up, stock, and maintain work areas.

Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use. Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.

Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect. Support team to reach common goals.

Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.

Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e. g., small print). Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps.

Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards. Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-18T00:00 Location: Detroit, Michigan Position Summary: It is the responsibility of the Wok Sous Chef to prepare foods for service according to assignment by the Restaurant Chef and Restaurant Manager while performing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Statement. Essential Functions: * Supervises the Wok Cook team to include efficient staffing, employee development and training, performance management and policy enforcement. * Prepares food for service according to assignment by the Chef or Restaurant Manager. * Monitors customer flow and estimates daily food requirements and supplies and requisitions items needed on a daily basis. * Assists with the training and development of all Wok Cook team members. * Prepares weekly work schedules. * Makes recommendations for timely repair, maintenance, and upkeep of all kitchen equipment and/or mechanical systems. * Leads the process of food preparation during meal periods. * Maintains clean and sanitary work areas. * Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all guests while staying alert to their needs. * Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area providing excellent guest service. * Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * 21 years of age or older. * High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate and/or degree from an accredtied culinary program preferred. * Four years experience as a Wok Cook in a high volume restaurant establishment. Preferably in a three diamond or above establishment. * Four years experience as a Sous Chef in a high volume Chinese restaurant. * Experience in multi-tasking of projects and project management. * Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point and Microsoft Project. * Excellent guest service and hospitality skills. * Strong analytical and listening skills. * Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting. * Ability to function and act independently. * Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral. * Ability to function in a fast paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays. * Obtain/maintain food handler's permit and CPFM (Certified Professional Food Manager) Certification.
