Summary

Provide imaging related project management, imaging vendor oversight and operational support for the imaging component of multiple clinical trials across all therapeutic areas.Tactical operations resource for clinical teams supporting the imaging strategy and imaging vendor selection.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

  • Interacts and liaises with imaging vendor project management teams and external imaging KOLs to enhance the value of the relationship and capabilities to BMS needs; ensuring BMS gets best-in class service from the imaging vendor/KOL on a global level.

  • Interacts with imaging BMS protocol management teams; attends regular protocol related team meetings and responsible for communicating imaging timelines/needs

  • Participates in protocol/imaging document development/review

  • Provides operational guidance to clinical team and sites; clinical team training/education

  • Drives RFP creation and review

  • Ensures delivery of image data per pre-defined timelines and specifications

  • Performs risk management and contributes to imaging issue resolution

  • Supports due diligence efforts required to qualify imaging vendor, for participation in both novel and strategic BMS relationships requiring imaging capabilities.

  • Partners with the key stakeholders to develop and align BMS imaging standards

  • Ensures program level processes and plans are developed to secure consistency across studies within an imaging paradigm

  • Establishes trust and builds successful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Through the use of effective communication practices, clarifies expectations, seeks to understand the needs of others and proactively provides status updates keeping stakeholders informed and up to date

  • Proactively seeks feedback from stakeholders on the performance of self and team, operational processes and ways to optimize relationships

  • Uses effective negotiation skills, diplomacy and tact and leverages those competencies to ensure continuous progress with the imaging vendor thus moving issues to resolution

  • Applies broad business knowledge to ensure that decisions are taken in full context of BMS and the imaging vendor perspectives; ensuring balance between needs of the broader relationship vs. those of an individual team or function

  • Fosters teamwork between BMS functional areas and imaging vendor; creating a team environment based on mutual trust and respect

  • Encourages teams to share knowledge, experiences, best practices, and information on an ongoing basis and actively captures that knowledge for re-use and continuous improvement

  • Willingness to travel (5-10% of time) to build relationships and review onsite capabilities

Degree/Certification/Licensure

Bachelors or Masters Degree within life sciences or equivalent

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience of working directly at or with an Imaging Core Lab/CRO a plus

  • Minimum of 6 years pharmaceutical or CRO project management experience (Phase I-III) with a minimum of 3 years in imaging operations (imaging core lab and/or Imaging CRO), preferred

  • Demonstrated experience managing 3rd party vendor

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple protocols containing imaging simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems/data from a variety of sources, and through effective decision-making and planning, deliver superior business results

  • Application of imaging within clinical trials across therapeutic areas

Competencies - knowledge, skills, abilities

  • Knowledge of read criteria used in oncology clinical trials

  • Knowledge of ICH GCP and applicable local regulations governing clinical research along with basic medical and research knowledge

  • Experience with various imaging modalities incorporated and implemented in clinical trials for drug development

  • Creative thinker with proven ability to work independently; effective problem solving skills; highly functional in collaborative environment; team player

  • Excellent networking skills with proven track record working in a highly matrixed environment, requiring sophisticated stakeholder and relationship management

Profile Description: The Clinical Trial Business Capability Lead (BCL), Investigator Sponsored Research Capabilities role will provide overall leadership and governance of a GDO business capability end-to-end, encompassing process and technology strategy implementation. The BCL will be acting as the primary point of contact and advisor for the business capability stakeholders across GCO through proper stakeholder engagement and management. Success in that role will require ensuring proper demand management, prioritization and evaluating process impact assessments of key change initiatives ensuring value is delivered through the business capability. The role is also accountable for executing the business capability governance and process strategy including the use of technologies and related systems in support of investigator clinical trial research programs. The role also ensures effective alignment of systems/technologies with other business processes and regulatory requirements for inspection readiness. Specifically, this BCL role will own the Investigator Sponsored Research capability, including technology systems such as BMS FastTrack and associated processes, and is accountable for compliance with key regulatory and quality requirements pertaining to the capability. Aligned with our vision to support the best science for patients, we aim to partner with investigators around the world to drive investigator sponsored research to benefit patients in need. FastTrack is a web-based platform to support Investigator-Sponsored Research workflows, Compassionate Use and Expanded Access requests. This role is responsible for the overall leadership of the capability including BMS FastTrack. Key Responsibilities and Major Duties * Serves as the Business Capability Lead/Subject Matter Expert for the business capability, including system/technology, regulatory inspection/internal audit. * Leads development of a connected digital experience for external investigators through the ISR process. * Owns the governance strategy, roadmap, execution, and monitoring of the business capability * Effectively managing and engaging key stakeholders as per governance strategy to ensure business needs and requirements are met, prioritized and communicated. * Performs process impact assessments as needed to determine breadth and risks involved with proposed change initiatives * Ensures proper documentation and oversight of all business processes, standard procedures and technical instructions related to business capability ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements * Develop and implement operational support model and training delivery plan to support the evolving needs from a business process and system life-cycle management perspective. * Partners with IT to set and drive a clear roadmap for the business capability that includes proper demand management, release planning and release management of technology system(s) * Partners with R&D functions, internal and external partners including vendors on strategy, development, implementation, and oversight of enhancement to current business capability * Works broadly across Global Development Operations, Regional Clinical Operations teams, Protocol Management teams, Field Medical teams, Commercial, IT, Public Affairs and Legal to leverage digital expertise and capabilities across the enterprise. * Accountable for system/technology performance, platform, integrations, project budget, stakeholder communications/change management, resolution/mitigation of issues and risks. * Oversees system/technology work streams and outcomes. * Contributes to internal/external continuous improvement initiatives. * Monitors new technologies and external trends to ensure BMS is leveraging the best of what is available * Monitors and oversees business capability operational health and metrics * Embraces a culture of quality, compliance and data integrity to promote a state of inspection readiness for the business capability * Participate in audits and inspections for the business capability to ensure data requests by auditors and agencies are met Requirements: Bachelor's degree required with an advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of direct experience independently leading and managing clinical trial (study, data, or system/technology) activities plus 1-2 years in a leadership position directing system, process, program or quality activities. Significant, demonstrated breadth of experience, versatility, and independent leadership and stakeholder management skills. * Experience in clinical trial, data, or technology management * Knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines, regulations * Experience with Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), Expanded Access, Compassionate Use and Named Patient Program (NPP) practices and principles * Experience with Regulatory requirements with regards to Investigator Sponsored Research and associated capabilities * Understanding of ISR, Expanded Access, Compassionate Use and NPP needs, challenges and opportunities in clinical research * Experience working with global teams in different geographies with a diverse set of perspectives in different regulatory contexts * Knowledge of Veeva Vault and Salesforce.com capabilities * Ability to analyze and interpret complex issues and propose innovative solutions * Experience with leading teams and driving innovation * Strong project management and planning skills * Effective oral and written communication skills to influence, inform, or guide others * Ability to effectively respond to regulatory trends, internal audits, inspection activities including root cause analysis/Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) plans for any findings. * Experience working in a matrix environment.
