Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS, is looking for an experienced Digital Product Manager to drive mobile product development and innovation on our highly successful Pimsleur Language Learning business.

The digital product manager will be well versed in leading product planning, feature development and execution of mobile apps for IOS and Android. Voice application development (Alexa, Google Assistant, Cortana) is a plus.

The product manager will work with editorial, in-house developers and outside vendors to create best-in-class language learning features, and will manage day-to-day tasks to execute from concept through launch to post-launch analysis.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Execute product roadmap planning and scheduling

  • Coordinate communication between in-house stakeholders and multiple external vendors

  • Create and manage Jira ticketing system for outside vendors

  • Work with Editorial to translate language learning content into an engaging user experience and defined requirements.

  • Work with analyst on event reporting and user engagement metrics

  • Work with Ecom manager on in-app purchasing improvements, testing and requirements.

  • User Acceptance testing and quality assurance.

Management of off-shore resources in multiple time-zones required.


The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in managing mobile software development, and bring a track record of successful app product management that drives customer engagement, user satisfaction and customer retention. Experience with Apple's App store, Google Play, Alexa, Google Assistant and their respective policies and procedures is a must

Skills Required:

  • 5-7 years' experience working on mobile app product management and/or voice technology.

  • Ability to translate business and language learning goals into product features and requirements.

  • Ability to interpret customer engagement data and translate into a product development roadmap geared toward improving engagement.

  • Experience driving subscription retention and customer satisfaction.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Foreign language knowledge a plus.

Working cross-functionally among internal teams and agency partners, you will manage the digital tech stack including our Website, App, CMS, Google Analytics, Hubspot, Zendesk, and more. To start, you will analyze user behavior and engagement and execute growth strategies across both product and marketing channels. You will report directly to the Chief of Staff, while collaborating closely with our Data & Operations Product team, and Marketing & Creative team. To succeed in this role, you must be a strong individual contributor and savvy relationship manager. You prioritize judiciously, and know how to delegate and leverage resources to deliver high-impact results. You do not wait for others to "set you up for success". Instead, you find ways to get there on your own, and lift those around you as you grow. You will: * Manage a team of external and internal engineers on all development of the Dig Inn app, website, and any other homegrown digital projects. * Be responsible for effectively deploying resources, solving problems, motivating and communicating against moving timelines, and managing vendors and partners. * Anticipate product needs and plan updates that enhance our digital capabilities - examples might include automated testing, user behavior analytics, marketing tool integration/automation, geofencing, etc. * Spec, test, and develop Dig Inn's loyalty program, including referrals and rewards. * Stay up to date on emerging technologies in the field; serving as the in-house expert and advisor on our digital platforms, tools, partnerships, and capabilities. * Build our digital marketing capabilities in terms of smarter audience segmentation and behavior-based marketing automation. * Design and execute sophisticated digital communication strategies (email, push, sms) that drive user engagement, and deliver highly targeted experiences. * Leverage available data and thoughtfully implement additional tools to help us better understand our users and business opportunities.
