Description This role will represent BASF by leading the development and deployment of digital solutions for the region, He/she will be responsible for ensuring that these digital solutions support and enable defined user experiences by thoroughly understanding customer needs and business requirements as defined by each business unit. Key capabilities include effective coordination, prioritization and consensus building across multiple business stakeholders and IT, project management, and experience with agile, Lean UX methodology.

System of engagement implementation is an enabler for APN businesses to win the market by effectively connecting channel distributors, retailers, end users and internal customer facing teams and is a critical component of the BASF APN strategy. As a Regional Digital Product Manager, you will be accountable for collaborating with third-party strategic partner(s), AP Digital strategy and internal IT team in this implementation. You will need to manage expectations, identify synergies, and creatively problem solve across the region where multiple independent solutions exist, ensuring alignment between stakeholders as transition to the new platform occurs.

You will lead new system implementation, measure acceptance, and manage system retirement as appropriate without interrupting the effectiveness of daily operations. This position provides collaboration opportunities across BASF Crop Protection North America (APN), Global BASF Crop Protection (AP), BASF Global Information Services (GS) and third-party providers.

In this role the you will work in tuned partnership with the business product managers to find and understand business needs and help develop data science strategy to identify business understanding and data needs to meet the business needs. This role will be the vital connection between the data science engineering team and the business. Both strategy and direction will be provided from this role to help ensure the business value and needs are both understood and met. Emphasis of this role will be more on strategy and business outcomes with a strong understanding of technical solution while ensuring the technical direction will meet the needed outcomes. The leader in this role will work with the product management team to understand, tease out, and prioritize business problems, translating business problems to technical solutions. As well this senior team member will help in iterating and guiding the data science team to build out prototypes, validate prototype value with end business consumers, and help to lead the data science team execution. Success metrics for this critical team role will include ensuring the data science team understanding of the business needs, the business understanding of the data science team capabilities, and exceptional consumption streams of the data science and data engineering solution outcomes to achieve business value. Job Requirements Responsibilities: Processing and analyzing large volumes of data. Building predictive models with advanced machine learning algorithms such as Neural Networks, Decision Trees, Boosting/Ensemble methods, Clustering, etc. Interacting with business teams from the data analysis stage to the final report presentation. Assisting Product Managers as needed to define and refine business use cases. Constantly innovating by building new features; improving modeling techniques to boost model performance; maintaining and refining the processes and procedures for building high-end analytic modeling solutions. Writing coherent reports and making presentations on high-end analytical projects. Communicating verbally and in writing with peer technical team members as well as business leaders. Essential Requirements: 3+ Years of experience (with PhD) in Data Science & Statistics / Mathematics or related field 5+ Years of experience (with Master's degree) in Data Science & Statistics / Mathematics or related field 7+ Years of experience (with Bachelor's degree) in Data Science & Statistics / Mathematics or related field Strong proficiency in Machine Learning, Scripting, and Statistical & Reporting tools (Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc.). Thorough knowledge of at least some supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques such as Logistic/Linear Regression, SVMs, Neural Networks / Deep Networks, Boosting/Ensemble methods, Decision Trees, Clustering, etc. Willingness to extend beyond core data science work to perform -data wrangling, data prep and data transfers, occasionally Ability to communicate clearly with product managers, data engineers, and business leaders. Experience with SQL and relational databases Experience with unstructured and semi-structured data sources and requisite processing tools. Additional Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to think analytically, write and edit technical material, and relate statistical concepts and applications to technical and business users. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to travel as business requirements dictate. Preferences: Ph.D. in applied statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or the physical sciences. Industry experience in mathematical/statistical modeling, pattern recognition, or data mining/data analysis. Extensive experience specifying and building advanced analytic solutions for the financial services and related industries with large-scale transaction data. Extensive experience in data management, deployment and product support for advanced analytic solutions. Excellent programming skills and knowledge of IBM SPSS, SAS, and/or scripting languages.
