Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is one of the most innovative public media organizations in the country. TPT presents extraordinary PBS programming and also produces award-winning content for the national PBS system.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Producer produces short and mid-form videos and is a key stakeholder in strategy and production of vertical video content. A passionate consumer and intuitive creator of web, mobile and social video content, especially that which aims to inform and entertain simultaneously, they are expected to be an innovative thinker and work closely with the MN Media Managing Director and the Digital team to be aligned on goals and expectations. This role initiates, coordinates, and executes all aspects of the digital production process, including creative, technological and administrative. The Digital Producer typically films their own material using non-jursidicted equipment, completes their own edit, applying graphics and animations, and optimizes the written and video components for online distribution.

Salary: $60k - $70K Annually (depending on qualifications)

Hybrid Work Environment: Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Twin Cities Metro area.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

CONTENT CREATION AND COLLABORATION (90% of time)

CONTENT CREATION

  • Creates, plans and executes expedited digital media projects

  • Identifies original story opportunities based on existing strategy

  • Oversees and innovates digital media workflows and ensures all pieces of the work meet established technical specifications and objectives

  • Selects on camera subjects, secures locations and resources for shoots and creates and shares detailed production plan and timeline

  • Appears on camera and writes and records VO

  • Researches and manages all intellectual property rights issues related to the project

  • Conducts edit in a manner to be compelling for digital audiences, creates and/or applies graphics and animation, adjusts color, selects music, adjusts audio for export and distribution

  • Pioneers on new content trends and platforms, and articulates best practices for their own work and the work of others at TPT

  • Ensures creative, aesthetic and technical excellence in all content created

  • Ensures all production related records, releases and media is obtained and organized according to standards for future use

COLLABORATION

  • Partners with Marketing team to plan and execute content and project promotion.

  • Partners with Content/Grant Development and Partnerships to develop proposals, produce and manage projects.

  • Partners with Production Services to produce and deliver projects on schedule and budget.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS (5% of time)

  • Represents TPT and our digital work at conferences and in workshops

  • Communicates with internal clients and stakeholders to facilitate workflow, project planning and execution.

  • Presents highly professional image of TPT to all stakeholders, through verbal and written interactions

  • Acts as an ambassador to internal and external constituents, including PBS

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5% of time)

  • Participate as an active member of the Content Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience with pre/post production tasks and field production in a fast-paced, multi-client setting

  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Experience

  • On-camera experience with social or digital content

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and motivate self to achieve success or work closely and collaboratively on assignments.

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, the Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong focus on audience and end user needs

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, time sensitive production environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.

  • Ability to travel to locations in the greater metro area on a frequent basis. Occasional travel out of the state
