Summary:

As a member of the CLDC Digital Print Center team, the primary duties of the Binder are to safely and accurately trim, bind and pack-out printed products as requested by Cengage Learning customers.

Position Description:

The Binder will trim and bind text pages and covers for college textbooks on multiple media types and in multiple trim sizes. They will complete the binding process as outlined in the print and bind instructions. As well as communicating issues, logging, and reporting machine performance. They will train other employees in the use of trimming and binding equipment as necessary. Requires the Binder to work independently and willing to learn all machinery within the Digital Print Center. As all positions in the distribution facility, this position will flex to other departments as necessary or decided by business needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operate machinery to assemble, trim, bind and package products as specified by customers without deviation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and mechanical issues as they arise.

  • Interface with scheduler to communicate any changes in productivity, commitments to customers and other variations to the production plan.

  • Maintain a clean working environment protecting machinery.

  • Adjust equipment as necessary to ensure machinery runs efficiently.

  • Comfortable with computer entry.

  • Perform consistent counting of product and pallets utilizing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

  • Accurately follow all pallet-layer configurations, and ensure pallets are safely/accurately stacked to full capacity.

  • Must be able to flex between the digital print center and other departments as business needs instruct.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Adhere to all safety practices and policies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Strong organizational skills are required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

  • Have normal color vision.

  • Must be able to stand/walk for 8-10 hours.

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs. Be able to push/pull 1,100 lb. rolls of paper on a cart.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
