The Digital Press and Copyright Specialist produces all aspects of print and press production for

the University community and ensures compliance with all applicable copyright laws. This position is a primary customer service point of contact for Print Services and reports to the Print Services Lead.

Updated May 6, 2024 to correct lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds in the physical requirements section.

Core Duties

  • Operate and maintain all equipment, including Xerox Versant 3100 Press, Xerox 180 Press, C9065 copier, and Canon wide-format printer, to produce classroom materials, posters, flyers, notecards, booklets, and course packs.

  • Organize print requests according to priority and deadlines and evaluate for efficiency.

  • Provide excellent customer service and support to all faculty, staff, and students by handling requests, questions, and concerns quickly and professionally.

  • Collaborate with departments across campus to fulfill their design and printing needs.

  • Prepare and correct customer-supplied artwork using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Canva to ensure that artwork is print-ready.

  • Communicate updates, feedback, and issues with clients.

  • Electronic prepress production procedures, including production planning, file management, archiving, file corrections, proofing, workflow management, color correcting, and imposition.

  • Maintain University brand consistency across all designs and printed materials produced in Printing Services.

  • Manage and review documents for compliance and provide guidance and direction regarding copyright procedures.

  • Provide direction and support to accommodate emergency requests.

  • Arrange for delivery of completed orders.

  • Perform bindery work: laminator, folder, paper drill, and industry guillotine paper cutter.

  • Assist with non-profit mailings, which include setting up and operating mailing devices according to the job specifications and maintaining quality standards according to USPS guidelines using CASS certification and BCC postal software.

  • Complete deliveries on campus and transportation of non-profit mailings to local off campus postal facilities utilizing University owned vehicles as needed.

  • Supervise student employees as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and professional development, performance management and evaluations, and disciplinary processes including termination of employment.

  • Act as primary point-of-contact for the assigned departments including serving as a resource about policies and procedures applicable to the department. Provide excellent customer service for in-person, email, and phone inquiries. Respond to internal and external inquiries and take appropriate action as required including proactively addressing potential issues and systematic matters.

Education & Experience

  • Required: Associates degree.

  • Required: 2-3 years of relevant experience, inclusive of operating and troubleshooting a digital press.

  • Required: Experience with Adobe Creative Suit, Microsoft Suite, and Canva.

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

  • Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Driver's License.
