Job Description

The Enterprise Technology (ET) Experience Center is seeking Digital Skills Navigators to provide individualized or group assistance to community members (ranging from school-aged children to seniors) within underserved urban, rural, and remote areas. This includes helping them access affordable internet, appropriate devices, and digital skills education to become effective technology users. Digital Skills Navigators focus on providing instruction for basic technology skills to community members. This assistance is provided in person at various locations but may also be via phone, email, video, and chat.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%)

  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%)

  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions

  • Experience in teaching, tutoring or instructing utilizing various devices (computers, smartphones, tablets, etc.).

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate closely with a team of other digital navigators to ensure that organizational goals are met.

  • Receive, return, or initiate phone, chat, or email contact with community members seeking technology assistance.

  • Appraise community members' access to affordable internet and devices, their current digital skill level, and their tutoring/troubleshooting interests and needs.

  • Advise community members about affordable home internet options and appropriate devices and support them in securing internet and an affordable device.

  • Research, vet, and catalog information and resources for community members' digital needs.

  • Make a plan with community members for follow-up meetings on tutoring, troubleshooting, and information sharing. Research supportive information as necessary.

  • Tutor, navigate, and provide quality information to community members to help meet their technology needs.

  • Facilitate pre-assessments and post-assessments to track program impact.

  • Support the planning, developing, and evaluating of lessons for basic device and internet skills.

  • Remain up-to-date with developments in subject area, teaching strategies and resources, making relevant changes to instructional planning and activities.

  • Teach community members (one-on-one or as a group) how to navigate digital resources, platforms, portals, and tools.

  • Lead tech classes, workshops, and camps for community members of all ages.

  • Participate in giving feedback and solutions around processes and procedures within the Digital Navigator program and digital equity infrastructure across the region, state, and country.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs.

Salary Range
