Description of Job

The work of the Digital Navigator is part of the efforts of CSU Pueblo/Adelante Connect to address digital inequities and provide equitable internet access for student resident households and community members. The Digital Navigator is a full-time position, with 50% of the time serving in a training and technical assistance capacity.

These duties include providing individualized or small group assistance to [community members, or other groups, and individuals] who need affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and/or coaching in introductory digital skills to become effective home internet users. This assistance is provided primarily by voice telephone but may also include email, text, video chat, and other communication methods that work for the learner.

This position will closely collaborate with a cadre of additional Digital Navigators and the Director of Digital Equity. The Digital Navigator is a full-time staff position funded to the end of the project period, March 31, 2026

Primary Duties

  • Promote digital equity and inclusion by ensuring Pueblo students, their families and organizations receive on-demand tier 1 tech support and relevant information to secure internet access and devices, as well support foundational digital learning skills necessary to be participants in today's knowledge economy.

  • Interview and asses students and their families to determine access to technology, current skill levels and experience, and determine the support they need

  • Advise students and families about free or affordable home internet service options for which they may qualify, assist clients to apply for services they choose.

  • Advise students and families about sources of affordable computers or other internet connected devices for which they may qualify and support their efforts to acquire appropriate devices and where they can get help for repair.

  • Coach students and families as necessary to use their home internet services to meet their internet use priorities. This may include in person, phone, and online interactions, as well as referral to sources of additional digital literacy skill training.

  • Assist with providing ethical and privacy considerations to the students and families. Track student and family progress and types of requests, keep accurate and timely records, and report outcomes as required.

  • Work with students to become community advocates of digital learning skills and their importance in life-long learning.

Salary Range

$37,000-$51,000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Training, education, or specialized research in technology and/or customer service

  • Knowledge on community engagement or youth programs

  • Ability to embrace the challenge of learning and teaching basic technological concepts related to internet services, computer and device characteristics, and common online services and applications

  • Excellent self-organization, language capacity, and cultural competency.

  • Experience working with a diverse population of students.

  • Experience working with community-based organizations.

  • Experience in a position requiring excellent telephone and online communication skills, including the ability to establish trust with clients of varied educational and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity in working with diverse customers, coworkers, and community.

  • Ability to creatively solve problems and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, establish appropriate boundaries with clients

  • Experience working with Hispanic, low-income, and First-Generation college students
