Digital Media Audio Producer. As part of the team, you will produce, record, and edit podcasts and other digital content for The JAMA Network as well as create and edit audio and multimedia content for the JAMA Network family of journals, including 11 specialty journals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create multimedia content for the JAMA Network

  • Record and edit audio podcasts using Pro Tools DAW and expertly handle related technical issues

  • Craft stories into captivating digital compositions, combining interview clips, sound effects, and music, as well as occasionally text and visuals, as needed

  • Working in collaboration with a medical editor, conduct research on medical and scientific topics for digital content production

  • Edit and/or write scripts and questions and structure audio interviews into compelling narrative

  • Complete production and post-production processes for publication

  • Publish and distribute podcasts and other digital products via established publishing and distribution channels

  • Use independent judgement to provide technical and creative solutions to issues

  • Ability to perform remote production, QA checks and troubleshooting for digital media releases remotely outside of regular business hours required on occasion

  • Collaborate with junior staff, social media, and marketing team members, to provide constructive feedback on audio and other multimedia content

  • May include other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in audio engineering, digital media production, journalism, or similar communication field required

  • 3+ years experience in audio engineering recording and editing high-quality audio content for a major publisher, radio station, news outlet, or similar, required; similar experience creating video content a plus

  • 3+ years conducting journalistic research, writing, and/or editing scripts for audio or video required; a strong interest in digital storytelling and desire to craft compelling narratives required

  • Digital portfolio with 5-10 professional-quality audio or multimedia pieces required

  • Aptitude and strong motivation to learn new technical skills and tools and apply them quickly to projects on an ongoing basis required

  • Ability to problem-solve creatively and evaluate, develop, and implement ideas required, as well as ability to work well as part of a team and to collaborate

  • Careful attention to editorial detail and ability to work independently under deadline pressure, with minimal supervision required

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects required in a fast-paced, deadline-based professional environment

  • Experience using Pro Tools or similar professional DAW software required; Premiere and After Effects a plus

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc) a strong plus

  • Familiarity with Izotope noise reduction software, HTML/XML, and digital media publishing platforms (e.g., Libsyn and Brightcove) a plus

Candidates for this position must have a strong track record of delivery across interactive channels and platforms; as well as experience working in a digital design group, digital marketing consultancy or digital advertising agency. This role will require close collaboration - from concept, development and launch - with client, creative, development and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity and change, able to focus on the smallest detail as well as drive a team to project completion, keeping the big picture in sight. The Digital Project Manage/Producer must be able to pioneer the workflow and development between media and creative agencies, while maintaining the production setup at the core. Working closely with the digital teams internally, as well as ensuring all 3rd parties are aligned on the scopes of work, roles & responsibilities, test plans/road maps, timelines, project risks and the end goal. This role is located onsite with our embedded team in downtown Chicago, IL. Responsibilities * Structure and scope complex digital and interactive projects such as websites, direct mail, iOS apps. * Oversee the delivery and execution process, ensuring and facilitating effective team communication and collaboration. Work with cross-functional teams to accommodate rapid change and deliver work under tight deadlines. * Experience working with remote teams, both offshore and offsite * Use project management methodologies, including creation of relevant documentation. * Manage project financials to track status against budget and scope; provide detailed weekly reports, working with team Integrated production manager, account leads, agency finance department and client * Interact with clients daily, as well as set up and attend client meetings as needed * Use internal software and systems to keep track of people, project status and progress * Ensure a collaborative 'One Team' approach comprising both client and internal team members * Actively participate in the overall effectiveness and constant innovation of the digital studio by attending scrums and team meetings, proactively growing and developing personal skills required for the role. DCO / Programmatic * Have a strong understanding of Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) within the dynamic templates to balance creative strategy/ideas and media requirements to be able to recalibrate in real time against predefined objectives. * Able to communicate intelligently and effectively with Creative, Technical, Account Management and Senior Leaders.
