Thales Defense & Security, Inc. has an opening for a Digital Hardware Engineer. This position is located in the Clarksburg office and reports to the Hardware & Support Director.

Responsibilities

  • Development of real time, digital hardware systems which include embedded processors, FPGA, Memory Systems, DSP and power supplies

  • Individually contribute to the development of a hardware product from concept, design and through to the field sustaining phase

  • Development of detailed design specifications, test plans and test procedures.

  • Perform circuit functionality and analysis using computer based simulation tools.

  • Perform prototype verification using lab instrumentation and with PC-based development tools

  • Identify alternate components and perform qualification testing in order to replace obsolete components.

  • Support R&D efforts and continuous process improvements.

  • Complete assigned tasks in a quality and timely manner with minimal supervision.

  • Effectively support and communicate to management status, issues, needs and ideas.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.

  • BSEE/MSEE in Electrical Engineering.

  • Ability to analyze a design to meet technical requirements.

  • Ability to think "out-of-the-box" and develop innovation design concepts.

  • Familiarity with DoD standards and practices (MIL-STD, ASTM, ANSI, etc.).

  • Proficiency in the use of schematic capture tools, ideally Mentor and Orcad.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, such as, MSExcel, MSWord, Visio and MSProject.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and non-verbal.

  • 2 - 4 years of electrical design experience.

We currently have an opening in our Clarksburg MD office for an Associate Digital Hardware Engineer. This position reports directly to the Hardware & Support Director. Responsibilities In this position, you will function as a Digital Hardware Associate Engineer working in a hands-on and team-oriented environment. You will work closely with Senior Engineers on new or existing product development programs in Digital Hardware design of portable radio products which includes working with Microprocessors, DSPs, Memory Systems, FPGAs, and High Efficiency Power Supplies and using hardware development and design tools like Spice and Hyperlinks. Basic knowledge of Analog and Digital Design fundamentals is required.
