The Digital Content Manager manages all content creation for the organization's digital channels and develops brand awareness and online reputation through social media channels. In this role, you will bridge the gap between marketing and category management, taking an active role in communication and defining the digital messages that are presented. This position is located at our corporate national headquarters in Hartland, WI.

Essential responsibilities (other duties as assigned)

Content Management

  • Manage all content creation activities for the organization's digital media channels. Serve as point person for the department and work with other channel owners to ensure information is regularly updated.

  • Work closely with the marketing and category management teams to devise a digital content strategy that aligns with the company's wider goals.

  • Create and maintain a content marketing calendar to ensure regular content updates throughout the year.

  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and monitors content activities of competitors.

Social Media

  • Identify target customers in order to build appropriate segments, focusing on customer demographics.

  • Develop brand awareness and online reputation through social media channels.

  • Utilize Facebook and/or Instagram ads to improve engagement and increase conversion.

  • Develop relevant content topics to reach company's target customers.

  • Curate and manage all published content and social ad campaigns.

  • Analyze key metrics and recommend revisions to social media, content marketing, and social advertising campaigns.

  • Compile ROI reports for management.

  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or other related field of study.

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant content creation experience. Experience should include demonstrated communication skills and project management experience, with accountability to quality of work and deadlines. Experience sourcing and managing digital content.

  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Basecamp, Trello, Smartsheets, or a similar project management software.

  • Highly articulate, with excellent communication skills.

  • Creative minded with an ability to conceive interesting ideas for new content.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.

  • Collaborative, positive team player

  • Great listening skills, with an open-minded and team-oriented approach to content creation. Must have confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary.

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills. Duties require considerable judgment to work independently to achieve results, or to devise new or modify and adapt existing methods, processes, or procedures.

  • Strong organizational skills with sense of urgency. Ability to independently handle multiple projects/tasks under general oversight. Able plan, develop, and establish priorities to meet deadlines with good control and results. The Sr. Category Manager will: Use consumer and market knowledge to develop and execute short and long term category strategies to drive franchisee sales and achieve Ascent financial objects. Develop team to achieve independent success in driving their own categories and strategies. Essential responsibilities (other duties as assigned) Category Management * Develop knowledge of Batteries Plus Bulb's target consumer in order to understand the desired consumer experience. Act as the voice of the consumer, and use knowledge and data to anticipate consumer behavior to better develop product and category strategies * Develop a business plan and product strategy that attains budgetary goals aligned with corporate objectives for each assigned product category (for both System and Ascent). Create category roadmap that outlines the strategic and financial objectives of projects needed to support the category strategy * Maintain product mix within each category. Develop tracking methods and report on progress and ongoing methods to achieve business plan goals * Identify top sellers and underperformers within each assigned categories. Determine reasons for underperformance and provide recommendations on strategies to phase out/discontinue/dispose of these items * Assist with negotiating and implementing new programs with domestic vendors for assigned categories * Work with other category managers to help determine prioritization of category updates * Develop and recommend new processes for continuous improvement in product and category assortment selection. Drive implementation of new processes throughout the Category Management team Analysis * Continuously and thoroughly review market information (applications and trends) for assigned categories. Determine success factors for top items. * Conduct analysis of Ascent and retail/commercial competitive pricing, calculating store level margin and competitiveness against defined competitors. * Develop and maintain competitive intelligence database. * Conduct monthly forecast review and new item planning to insure accuracy of financial forecast, and recommend budget changes Retail Practices/Channel Management * Lead team in development of retail merchandising strategy, ensuring self and direct reports continually challenge assortment, merchandising and cross merchandising within store. * Drive consistent review of competition and strategy for retail pricing within assigned categories, ensure that direct report team actions same level of analysis on continual basis. * Assist in the development and implementation of the annual marketing promotional calendar. Analyze and report promotion results * Assist Marketing to develop necessary point-of-purchase materials to drive sales * Communicate price changes, new items, and other category information to appropriate internal and external personnel using Flash, Product Memos, I-Site postings, etc. People Management * Review work of CM team and provide feedback to increase their analysis skills. Use collated team data and analysis and prepare reports for senior management. * Provide mentorship, coaching and guidance to other members of the Category Management team for personnel development and problem resolution * Leverage project management and leadership techniques to influence change and execution Qualifications * BS/BA required, with emphasis in Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred * Minimum 7-10 years product/market management experience. Demonstrated knowledge of multi-level distribution networks preferred.
