Wholesale Banking

Wholesale Banking, led by Perry Pelos, provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally, with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. It has nine major business lines, including: Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and Principal Investments. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

The Role

The Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk & Control (WFCRC) team is responsible for the coordination, oversight and ultimate execution of Wholesale Banking's commitments to key internal and external stakeholders as it relates to the management of financial crimes risk with the Wholesale Bank. In addition to having responsibility for Wholesale Banking's execution of the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) program, WFCRC is also responsible for the remediation of the OCC BSA/AML Consent Order. This team will partner with line of business ("LOB"), operations, risk and compliance team members, Wholesale Control Executive Office, Enterprise Financial Crimes Risk Management, Wells Fargo Audit Services, and Testing & Validation to advocate and ensure alignment in scope, purpose, expectations and execution of the Wholesale Financial Crimes Program. The team will achieve this through a focus on strong communication, strategic planning, thoughtful and meaningful tracking/reporting, and timely escalation and change management.

The newly created Business Systems & Tool team within WFCRC is seeking a dynamic Digital Consultant (DC) to focus on the Centralized Utility. This organization will complete high volume, operational processes on behalf of all Wholesale business groups, enabling a consistent and streamlined approach to managing BSA/AML activities. The DC will interact with LOBs, EIT, independent risk management, audit, and other Enterprise and Wholesale teams.

A Digital Consultant provides leadership and expertise for digital products, initiatives, or a functional area within the Digital environment. Leads the development and execution of the most complex digital business plans, programs and initiatives which have significant, Enterprise-wide impact. These initiatives may focus on: content strategy/creation, customer experience, analytics / research or product management. Develops digital strategy for product/functionality/experience area, and influences digital strategy for the business line.

Individual Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Define user-centric product functions and features in support of business capabilities

  • Lay out how the product will be managed programmatically.

  • Define Minimum Viable Product for launch, and maintain ranked backlog and roadmap with priority schedule for development.

  • Ensure product is relevant, up-to-date through acquisition and application of industry and business knowledge

  • Collaborate with business and technology partners to build extensible product incorporating prioritized and forward-looking capabilities

  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to foster collaboration on product development

  • Serve as a consultant to business partners to identify needs and match to products

  • Maintain a working knowledge and inventory of key fraud related regulatory requirements and guidelines and assess their impact to Program tools/processes

  • Create and maintain operational processes/procedures for key team functions

  • Establish relationships with key Operational Risk partners to align work processes as appropriate

  • Special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: digital customer experience, digital product/program management, digital platforms, or digital consulting
  • 3+ years of wholesale banking experience
  • 3+ years of business systems analysis or design experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

  • Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation

  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile project methodologies

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Experience in problem analysis, solution implementation, and change management

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

  • Ability to quickly learn business operations and processes

  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • 4+ years of financial services industry experience
