The Digital Communications Specialist is critical in achieving the department's mission of communicating clearly and effectively throughout all media to promote the college and keep the community informed. The specialist will lead efforts to plan out the college's communications on key digital assets, including social media, on-campus digital signage and email marketing.
The specialist will also manage the graphics and photography workflow, including that of college, county, and external clients. The position will assist with press relations and emergency communications.
Create, coordinate and schedule daily content for the college's communications channels, including website, digital signs, social media, event listings, calendars and evolving media.
Create, coordinate and schedule communications, including email marketing and internal emails.
Monitor results and metrics of various departmental initiatives to help guide future decisions.
Manage the job flow for photography and graphics.
Plan smaller-scale social media campaigns.
Coordinate office administrative functions, such as ordering supplies and maintaining and distributing branded promotional items.
Archive digital newsletters and other files as required.
Any other duty as assigned.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.Education Required:
Associate degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience Required:
Two to five years of progressive marketing communications experience directly related to the duties and skills of this position. This can include internships. Experience with social and digital media is required.

A strong grasp of current and emerging social media.
Accurate proofreading and editing skills with knowledge of AP Style.
Able to work some nights and weekends.
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
