Job Summary: The Dietitian Specialist 3-MVP coordinates and provides age-specific (neonate, infant, toddler, preschoolers, school age, adolescent, young adult, middle adult, and later adult) nutritional care for patients receiving nursing care and/or pharmaceutical supplies from MVP and/or LLHC.

Receives referrals from LLHC nurses, MVP staff, area physicians, and in-patient Nutritional Support Team (NST) members for specialized nutrition care for parenteral, enteral and/or oral nutrition patients, provides outpatient nutritional assessments, reassessments, as well as plans, initiates, implements, and monitors in-home nutritional programs, attends LLHC and MVP case conferences as appropriate, works as and/or contributes to outpatient case management by working to secure and clarify the necessary documentation and authorization for reimbursement for enteral, parenteral and/or other specialized nutritional equipment and/or supplies, educates and trains patients and/or family members on specialized nutrition care programs, serves as an outpatient team educator for fellow team mates, serves as a liaison between the patient, physician, and/or pharmacy, performs performance improvement reviews to improve patient related outcomes. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Graduate of accredited school with Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or related field required.

Master
s Degree in Nutrition or related field or Board Specialty Certification in clinical area required.

Minimum five years of clinical nutrition experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Handling/gripping, speed movements/velocity, fingering/fine dexterity.

A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition with emphasis in area of specialty. Able to assemble, operate and troubleshoot patient related enteral feeding pumps and equipment.

Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.

Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Certification from the Commission on Dietetic registration required.

Board Specialist Certification required.

Board certification in Nutritional Support (CNSD) and American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) core competencies required.
