Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Queens-Long Island Renal Institute, located on the lobby level of the renowned Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, New York, is seeking a Full Time Registered Dietitian.

QLIRI provides state-of-the-art in-center hemodialysis treatment for kidney disease patients. Our experienced interdisciplinary team of nephrologists and renal nurses offer chronic dialysis services in a comfortable and modern setting. Located on the Queens-Nassau boarder, Queens-Long Island Renal Institute has a longstanding reputation for the finest quality of care, state-of-the-art technology and uncompromised dignity.

Position Overview:

The Dialysis Dietitian assists the Renal Dialysis Health Care Team (physicians, nurses, technicians and social workers) in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities related to the objectives of improved patient care through the evaluation and maintenance of good nutritional care, dietary counseling of individual patients and teaching the principles of therapeutic nutrition in renal disease.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Conducts initial comprehensive nutritional assessment and comprehensive plan of care within first 13 treatments or one month, whichever is first for review by the interdisciplinary team

  • Reviews patient's lab values monthly for trends and correlations

  • Discusses lab values with the physician and reviews results with the patients on a monthly basis

  • Establish nutritional goals for patients and continue to monitor patient progress and readjusts goals that are not met

  • Complete and document ongoing assessment, evaluations and monthly notes, along with documenting and monitoring ongoing nutritional issues and goals

  • Records, reaction to and comprehension of diet instructions and notes on the nutritional progress of the patient information in the patient's permanent record

  • Participates in health team rounds assisting the physician in establishing the proper diet order according to the patient's specific co-morbidities and requirements

Position Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian

  • At least one (1) year of prior experience as a Registered Dietitian

  • Prior experience working with renal patients or in a dialysis unit strongly preferred

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
