What You Will Do

As an Associate with Seton Family of Hospitals-TX, you will have the opportunity to provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluate effectiveness of treatments. In this role, you will be part of the KetoGenic diet team to help with epilepsy patients and be a part of the KetoGenic program, the team is made up of 2 Dieticians and a Nurse Practitioner. In this role, you will manage your own patients and work independently. We are looking for someone with interest in Epilepsy diseases and how the KetoGenic diet helps with that disease.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patients for nutritional status. Provides interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements.

  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy.

  • Monitors tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommends therapy adjustments as necessary. Provides medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.

  • Provides nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications.

  • Researches and takes initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems.

  • Assists in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintains sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
  • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Diploma

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 plus years of experience with the Keto Genic diet, formula familiarity preferred.

  • 3 plus years of experience working with Pediatric patients on a KetoGenic diet preferred.

  • None required.
