Responsibilities

The Dietary Aide prepares food and dessert items and serves meals to patients, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner with consideration to dietary needs. The Dietary Aide maintains assigned areas in a clean, orderly and attractive condition providing a suitable environment for patients and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Prefer food service experience preferably in a hospital, health care or hospitality setting.

Licensure/Certification: ServSafe certification preferred

Knowledge:Prefer knowledge of basic math, equipment usage, cleaning products, safety, and infection control practices.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Cleans, sets up, restocks and maintains sanitation of steam tables for meal service. Assembles food bar items and stocks paper products and condiments for assigned meal periods.

  • Assembles patient trays in compliance with orders to be delivered to each unit.

  • Tends to food line serving meals to patients', staff, visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Assists patients to basic dietary questions and meal selections.

  • Breaks down steam line at the end of each meal.

  • Assist server on serving line during peek meal periods.

  • Prepares and restocks new salad bar items.

  • Cleans counter tops, work areas, utensils, mixers, choppers, etc.

  • Cleans and sanitizes dining room tables and chairs after every meal period.

  • Cleans walls, shelves and work tables in production work areas.

  • Practices safe infection control practices and procedures when performing duties.

  • Maintains all competencies in timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Cook/Food Service Manager

  • Abides by and adheres to Mission and Values of the facility

Environmental Conditions: Heavy physical workload. Push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Requires standing, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and stooping throughout the shift. Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. VIEW JOBS 9/23/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-12-22T00:00 Job Summary Under the supervision of the Manager of ADHC Services, the Dietary Aide prepares and serves snacks and the noon meal to participants in addition to maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment in collaboration with the Dietary Aid Lead and the Day Center Service Manager (DSM). Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities Functional Category: Dietary Support Estimated Percent of time Spent - 100% * Distributes meals and beverages in center and/or in home following departmental guidelines. * Records temperatures of all meals and kitchen equipment and wears a hair net, gloves and apron during meal and snack preparations. * Updates information on diet card and diet lists when information changes or as needed. * Prepares and serves morning and afternoon snacks according to snack menu, portion control, diet orders, and time constraints. * Serves the noon meal at a proper temperature with references to; diet, supplements, adaptive equipment needs and portion control. * Maintains the cleanliness of the kitchen and kitchen equipment by performing the weekly and daily cleaning according to schedule. * Cleans, organizes and sanitizes food service equipment and areas.
