Position Description:

This position maintains diesel equipment operations by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, performing adjustments and alignments, and keeping records.

Responsibilities:

• Performs minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers

• Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests

• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules

• Collaborates with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicle and plans repairs

• Performs regular diagnostics tests on trucks

• Maintains accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles

• Contains cost by using warranty; evaluates service and parts options

• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating procedures and troubleshooting breakdowns

• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems

• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Communicates effectively both oral and written

• Managers multiple priorities and deadlines

• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position (Lifting up to 150+ lbs., bending, climbing, standing duration of shift, etc.)

• Knowledge of Federal DOT Guidelines

• Proficient in basic computer skills

• Must have adequate tools to perform the job

• Must be able to pass the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check

• Valid driver's license, CDL preferred

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Certification/ training in diesel repair from vocational tech school or community college
• 5+ years as a Diesel Mechanic
• ASE Diesel Certification
• PACCAR experience

Salary:

• Commensurate with tools and experience

Work Environment:

The nature of the working environment is one which the employee may encounter outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, and excessive noise levels.

Pay: $19.00 - $37.00 per hour
