This position will perform routine and some non-routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles (buses, vans etc.) which adheres to FirstGroup standards. This may include but is not limited to tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls for repair, conducting visual inspections of vehicles and related work as assigned.

Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles more advanced issues and problems and may refer more complex issues to higher-level staff. All work is performed with a commitment to safety.

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with minimal supervision on basic maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and lubricate components
Tech I : Assist Tech II or III with preventative maintenance (PM's), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage

Tech II: Assist Tech III with preventative maintenance (PM's), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.

Tech I: Assist in the performance of mechanical repairs including the repair of brakes, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.

Tech II/III: Perform mechanical repairs under moderate/minimal supervision including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.

Tech I/II/III: Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately. Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers

Tech II: Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under moderate supervision.
Tech III: Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision. May perform diagnostic tests utilizing a computer and manufacturer's software to determine mechanical defects.

Tech III: Remove, overhaul and reinstallation of mechanical components with minimal Tech in Charge supervision
Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken
Evaluates completed work prior to release and seeks approval where required
Adhere to FirstGroup standards, policies and procedures
Repair and maintain all shop equipment

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire)
State inspection license (if required)
ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program (expected to have 6 ASE within 6 months of hire)
Tech I: Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.

Tech II: Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience
Tech III: Advanced mechanical aptitude and 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience

Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards
Basic/Intermediate/Advanced problem-solving ability
Basic/Intermediate/Advanced computer skills
Comfortable using hand tools
Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintained in a clean and safe manner

$23.40 to $27.31 Depending on ASE Certifications & Experience
Shift for this position is Monday-Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM
