Diesel Mechanic

Job Description Job Description Description: Summary: The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.

They will possess the skills to perform general and diesel truck maintenance repairs. The Diesel Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and trailer repairs. Duties and Responsibilities of the Diesel Mechanic/ Diesel Technician:

Performs preventive maintenance inspections and services company vehicles and equipment.

Thoroughly cleans equipment and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary. Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.

Performs diagnostics tests, records, and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts. Orders and installs replacement parts for machines. Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.

Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently. Prepares reports documenting work performed. Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.

Coordinates with shop supervisor to schedule regular maintenance on machines. Collaborates with shop supervisor regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with shop supervisor regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and walking.

Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Compensation: $27.00 - $32.00 an hour commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm; occasional Saturday 7:00am to 2:00pm, if needed. Requirements: Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of general diesel truck maintenance repair. 3 to 4 years’ experience as a preventative maintenance mechanic. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Organizational and time management skills.

Must pass a drug test. Must have a clean criminal background. Must have a clean driving record.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. ASE Certified or other related certifications preferred.
