Sunbelt Rentals--the fastest growing rental business in North America--is seeking a Mechanic.

This mechanic/technician role performs preventive maintenance, perform advanced diagnostics, and make complex repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily include Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment. Our specialty lines locations may have a fleet of large-scale power-generators, pumps, HVAC systems and oil/gas related equipment.

Education or experience that prepares you for success:

  • High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired
  • 5 +years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment or specialty lines equipment (large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC or Oil & Gas equipment) strongly preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities you may rely on:

  • May need to provide mechanic's tools of the trade.

  • Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems & troubleshooting skills

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems & troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job. VIEW JOBS 1/21/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-20T00:00 Job Overview Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Diesel Mechanic The Mechanic will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to forklifts, pallet jacks, scrubbers, and scissor lifts as directed by Fleet Management. This experienced individual has thorough knowledge of MHE electrical & hydraulic systems. Disassembles and overhauls hydraulic/electric motors, hydraulic cylinders, and experience with propane forklift engines. Salary and Benefits Information: The starting rate of pay for this position is based on experience. Attractive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid time off, etc). Schedule and Shift: This is a full time, 2nd shift, permanent position Monday through Friday from 2pm until work is done. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays is required as scheduled. Position Responsibilities * Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance. * Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. * Adhere to OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory compliance standards. Respond to service calls. * Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records. * Maintain cleanliness in areas of work and tools. * Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections). * Pick up and deliver vehicles. * Manage ordering and inventory of parts. * Perform assigned duties in a safe and productive manner. * Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager and Lead Technician. * Input data accurately and in a timely manner into the fleet maintenance software program (SAP EAM). * The training and experience that comes from the following certifications may be utilized as part of the position responsibilities #CB Requirements * High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) * 3 to 5 years of mhe mechanic experience on a fleet * Must be able to work on all types of vehicles * Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds * Able to supply your own set of tools to perform the job * Certifications and licenses needed for the position within the first year of employment to include: ASE Heavy and Medium duty certification, brake and annual inspection certification, and A/C certification.
