Diesel Mechanic

A Service Technician is responsible for providing service to our customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. This can include: cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, and removal of parts and attachments. Installation with the help of proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.

  • Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components.

  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines.

  • Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.

  • Read job order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.

  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed.

  • Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.

  • Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility

Hiring Immediately * Trailer and Truck Experience required * 4+ years experience required Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: As a Fleet Mechanic you will complete a quality preventative maintenance inspection and repairs on all company owned equipment, to include tractors, trailers, refrigerated units and support equipment. * Diesel Technicians perform preventative maintenance on all equipment to appropriate specifications (OEM, DOT, Swift, etc). * Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform minor and/or complex repairs for all equipment. * Disassemble, repair and re-assemble of Heavy Truck & Trailer components; including but not limited to; refrigerated units, diesel engines, transmissions, axles and any other components or systems. * Assist any shop personnel as needed to create a cohesive and well-rounded shop environment centered around learning. * Perform tire maintenance to include: repairs, failure analysis, coding, and identification. * Perform offsite repairs to include all roadside breakdowns as directed by leadership. * May be required to test drive equipment if certified. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment. * Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives. Position Qualifications: * 4 years of mechanical experience with on the job training or Diploma in vehicle maintenance from vocational or trade school * May require ASE certifications * Must possess the tools required to accomplish the essential job results * Knowledge of compliance with OSHA, DOT, and CSA regulations Pay range depending on experience $17- $30 an hour.
