The Mechanic position is a mid-level mechanic position with opportunity for advancement. Spouse must take coverage if working at her employer first, then union insurance secondaryAdditional Benefits:* 5 Holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)* 5 Floating Personal Day (unused days cannot be paid out)* Vacation- 1 week after 1 year, 2 weeks after 2 years, 3 weeks after 8 years, 4 weeks after 15 years * Unused vacation can be paid out at end of year* 10,000 Life insurance policy * Flexible Spending Acct - $500 to use on approved medical expenses each year- Debit card issued * Simple IRA - eligible after one year of employment -* Employees can contribute up to $6,000 per year * Company matches employee contribution up to 3% of employee's annual incomeJob Responsibilities: * Maintain the cleanliness of trucks and support equipment * Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shop and yard * Maintain accurate records of each repair performed * Perform chassis preventative maintenance and light repairs to chassis and up fit components * Assist senior mechanics with advanced repairs * Change tires * Complete basic inspections and associated repairs * Work performed in outdoor environments and exposure to variable and sometimes adverse weather conditions.Job Requirements:* 3-5 years of mechanic experience or recent trade school graduate * Heavy Diesel Equipment Experience, Required * Experience with Hydraulics, Required * Experience with Welding, Required * Toolbox and basic hand tools, Required * Ability to perform standard chassis PM services (fluid and filter changes and grease components)* Ability to perform basic inspections and complete basic repairs * Ability and willingness to assist higher level mechanics and perform repairs under their supervision * Have a valid driver's license, required * Have a valid Commercial Drivers License, preferred * Experience working on heavy equipment, Required * Willingness to learn and have a positive attitude * Consistent attendance * Use all required PPE and work safely * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work a flexible schedule, including overtime on occasion * Work in high noise environments with exposure to vibration and fumes * Active, physical work occasionally involving lifting 50 lbs.
