Flippo Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Diesel/Heavy Mechanic to join our team. The Diesel/Heavy Mechanic is responsible for effectively diagnose and repair heavy duty vehicles. The Diesel/Heavy Mechanic reports to the Shop Foreman.


  • Must have Diesel engine experience with rebuilding and diagnostic repairs.

  • Must have experience in general maintenance of industrial grade trucks, oil services, tune ups and trouble shooting.

  • Transmission experience is a plus.

  • Must have own tools to perform general services and diagnostics.

  • Hydraulic experience, fitting repair, and services a plus.

  • The types of equipment/trucks you should have an experience with are loaders, excavators, backhoes, mini excavators, low boys, 6 wheel dump trucks, 10 wheel dump trucks, vactor trucks, and commercial trucks.

  • Successfully pass an alcohol and controlled substances screen, in accordance with Flippo Construction Company, Inc. policies and guidelines and/or those regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and/or other government agencies.

VIEW JOBS 7/20/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-10-18T00:00 Job Description Position Summary Responsible for leading the daily activities of the Corrosion Control group. This role is accountable for the scheduling, remediation, design, planning, mapping and maintenance of Cathodic Protection systems that protect the company's distribution and transmission pipeline system, gate stations, plants and storage facilities. Position has 24 hours on call responsibility for emergency response. Tasks and Responsibilities * Leads the daily work activities of the Corrosion Control group. * Oversees the completion of periodic surveys, remediation of Cathodic Protection systems and design and installation of new and existing systems in compliance with Federal, state and local codes. * Assists with development of corrosion control policies, procedures and training programs. * Responsible for developing a qualified staff ensuring that all training requirements within the group are performed and maintained. * Responsible for monitoring low pressure drips, water accumulation investigations and drip water removal. * Coordinates the acquisition of permits for maintenance activities. * Ensures compliance with all Federal, state and local codes as well as company standards. * Maintains and preserves permanent compliance records. * Satisfies the corrosion control requirements of the company's Transmission Integrity Management Program and Distribution Integrity Management Program. * Collaborates with trade allies, Alliance partners, designers, Corporate Engineering, Gas Supply Operations and Field Operations personnel to ensure new and existing Cathodic Protection systems are installed and maintained. * Utilizes various computer applications (Smallworld, Work Manager, Web Work Manager, Pipeline Compliance System, Cathodic Protection Data Management, etc.) to gather information and analyze data. * Creates reports and documents that shows progress, reveals trends and forecasts future workload requirements. * Establishes, monitors, and continuously improves systems, policies and processes. * Represents the Company's interests before internal and external audiences to include expert witness testimony, contractual negotiations, PSC and SCC interactions. Qualifications, Skills and Abilities High school education or GED plus 5 years work experience in the corrosion field. NACE Corrosion Technician or CP Technician level certification preferred. Demonstrated leadership, ability to work with people, reconciling conflicting goals and priorities, and leading projects to completion. Working knowledge of pipeline construction, replacement, operations, maintenance and emergency response procedures and practices, federal, state and local codes and procedures. Extensive knowledge of corrosion control procedures, practices, skills and technology used for galvanic and impressed current Cathodic Protection systems. Must possess mechanical aptitude, planning and scheduling skills. Ability to use a computer/software to input, retrieve and report data. Ability to analyze and solve business problems.
