What You'll Do:

The Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing test plans, establishing goals/timelines, and communicating status of a project to completion. The Calibration Engineer will plan and coordinate day-to-day activities including interaction with technicians and support engineers. Utilize test techniques to make fundamentally based hardware and calibration decisions. Evaluate new engine hardware and technology for future applications. Analyze, plan, and solve complex system problems as they relate to calibration development. Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of data. Actively participate in the development of standard hardware and calibration development processes and procedures. Participate in meetings with management, product design, and systems teams. Present summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections. This position combines multiple engineering disciplines to develop hardware and calibrate the engine management system of engines produced by the company.

There are multiple Calibration positions available within our Powertrain organization including OBD II Calibration Engineers, Dynamometer Development Engineers, Powertrain Calibration Engineers, Transmission Calibration Engineers, Diesel Calibration Engineers, and ETC Calibration Engineers. The candidate should expect to travel 2 - 4 weeks throughout the year for system validation/verification. This position reports directly to supervisors and operates under the general direction of the department manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent from an ABET accredited university

  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience with any of the following: development and calibration of direct injection spark ignition engines, powertrain systems calibration development, OBD calibration, transmission calibration, engine calibration or transmission calibration; or an advanced degree, academic research, or a previous internship/co-op in a related field

  • Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data

  • MATLAB / SIMULINK experience

  • Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions regulations, engine technologies and competitive products

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

  • Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Master of Science in Computer Science from an ABET accredited university

  • Hardware-in-the-loop development /verification

  • Database management of production calibrations

VIEW JOBS 12/4/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-04T00:00 Job Description: * Perform calibration verification tasks and provide summarized testing results utilizing Powertrain development tools set, Excel and or Matlab scripts. * On-road data collection in support of required development data population sets. * Conduct verification testing to ensure diagnostic calibration and software meet functional objectives -- this may be a combination of vehicle and HIL testing and is comprised of inducing and removing faults to ensure MIL illumination / MIL clearing is compliant and operates as expected * Procurement and evaluation of limit parts from hardware design organizations for robustness testing. * Perform transmission adaptation learning, transmission fault clearing. * Update development fleet of vehicles through various pre-production hardware and software upgrades. * Utilize CDA tool and associated tools to complete vehicle scan reports of all modules. * Coordinate vehicles through emission rolls testing including flashing engine and transmission controllers. * Coordinate vehicle build-up and tear-down work orders. * Coordinate instrumentation allocations. * Support vehicle product launch at assembly plant as engine system representative * Support vehicle field issues on as needed basis to collect data on customer vehicles to determine problem resolution. Requirements: * BSME, ,BSEE, or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University. * Understanding of engine and transmission fundamentals. * Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint * Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. * Min. 6 months of experience in Powertrain Systems Calibration Development, OBD calibration or transmission calibration. * 6 month ETAS INCA Tool Experience or equivalent data acquisition experience. * 1 yr experience with MATLAB / SIMULINK in controls environment. Travel: * May be required to travel domestically up to 20% * Will be required to drive a company car. * Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.
