The Diagnostic Imaging Clerical Lead leads the daily operations of a defined area of imaging support services across multiple campuses.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Directs and implements policies and procedures in a defined area and performs the following functions relating to staff: workflow coordination; staffing & scheduling; participates in evaluations, hiring, discipline and retention of staff.

  • May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

  • Performs clerical support tasks in areas of defined expertise. Maintains required competencies.

  • Promotes communication and cooperation within the department and with other areas.

  • Serves as department liaison to other areas in the facility.



High school graduate or equivalent education and experience is required.


Experience in a healthcare setting and computer use is required. A minimum of one year experience as both an Electronic Imaging Technician and a Diagnostic Imaging Scheduler is required.


Knowledge of basic medical terminology is desired.


Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, patients and families both verbally and in writing. Requires critical thinking skill, decisive judgment and the ability to work under supervision or with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.

Gains confidence andcooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcareproviders through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, andeffective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes,policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimalpatient care. May also be responsiblefor performing specific procedures and/or teaching duties. Education: * Graduation from anaccredited Radiologic Technologist Program * American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (RT (R)) required. * Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) State Licensure is required. * Valid CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Provider required through the American Heart Association. * Fluoroscopy license as required by state regulations (to be obtained within 6 months of hire). Experience: * A minimum of 0-2 years basicclinical and practical experience as typically acquired in a similarenvironment. * Previous experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is desirable. * Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable. Knowledge and Skills: * General knowledge ofdiagnostic radiology principles, procedures, views, and equipment, includingsome experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies. * Capable of performingroutine radiographic examinations as well as a basic understanding of humananatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. * excellent written andverbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly andprofessionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. * Well-developed timemanagement and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritizeassignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientificmethods to achieve objectives and meet deadline * General knowledge ofcomputer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronichealth records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system(PACS). * Ability to: * Prioritize assignments and work within standardizedpolicies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meetdeadlines. * Work independently, as well as be part of the team,including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. * Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems byselecting appropriate solutions from established options. * Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected healthinformation (PHI). * Build collaborate relationships with peers and otherhealthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
