Attention Diagnostic Customer Coordinators looking to join the Danbury Hospital! This is a day shift, full time role within the radiology team working as a liaison between the department, patients, physicians, etc.

Summary:

Primarily serves as a liaison between Radiology professionals and customers to include community physicians, internal physicians, service departments and offsite facilities. Expedites communications to improve customer service for; Danbury Hospital, Danbury Diagnostic Imaging, Ridgefield Diagnostic Imaging, and Danbury Medical Arts Center.

Responsibilities:

1.Serves as a primary point of contact between Radiologist and community physicians by communicating and facilitating all follow up on studies and responding to patient care issues.

2.Performs all Radiology support functions in all areas of the department.

3.Obtains prior films/studies as requested by Radiologist. Utilizes Cerner system and PACS.

4.Assists Radiologists in processing of STAT readings by contacting referring physician for preliminary reports.

5.Schedules patients for specific Radiology procedures by coordinating Radiologist room availability, resources, and nursing services if required. Confirms scheduled appointments and coordinates the patient steroid prep process.

6.Answers phone calls, takes detailed messages to ensure accurate and timely response.

7.Assists other customer service staff as needed to ensure service excellence and quality of care using the Planetree model.

8.Coordinates montage image process by working with Film Library to ensure images and reports are packaged with cover letter and sent out in a timely manner.

9.PACS monitoring of reports to be read and priors pending.



  1. Participates in on-going Lean Six Sigma projects at the request of the manager or supervisor.

  2. Responsible for financial clearance and charge entry. Acknowledges and assists patients with special needs and respects confidentiality.

  3. Performs accurate search/selection of patient within the hospital system to maintain the integrity of the Electronic Master Patient Index and to ensure the accuracy of patient identification.

  4. Performs pre-registration functions in the system and enters accurate and complete demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment for services rendered.

  5. Performs insurance eligibility verification and executes payor requirements as needed. Includes initiating eligibility transactions via the Web, contacting the payor to obtain billing information and authorization and scripts for service when appropriate.

  6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


Other information:

Required: High School Diploma.

Minimum Experience: Three years:

Data Entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, and Customer Service. One year of medical terminology knowledge required, Data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Customer service and organizational skills.

Desired: Associate's Degree, Cerner, Document Imaging, PACS, Soarian Scheduling.
