General Summary of Position:

Granite has an immediate need for a DevOps / Release Engineer to work on development projects, building, deploying and supporting new and existing software systems, for our fast growing organization. We are looking for a person with strong technical skills and experience with web-based applications and services, especially using Microsoft .NET, with relational data bases including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, and with version control and software build tools.

Candidates with backgrounds as Release Engineers, software and/or data base developers, DevOps engineers, or Data Base Administrators, will be considered. The individual selected will be responsible for

build and release of software and supporting DB objects, version control systems, and setup and troubleshooting on web and other servers. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to building and supporting our next generation enterprise solutions. Our internal applications are used by our 1,900+ employees to manage our business and drive our success, and we are constantly improving our customer-facing web applications and automated business-to-business communications.

  • Build, release, deploy and configure software to support development processes (both Waterfall and Agile).

  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to design and implement new tools, procedures and technologies.

  • Assist in setting up new servers for Production, UAT, and other test environments and install, manage, and troubleshoot applications and databases on them.

  • Design and deploy monitoring and system logging tools; utilize monitoring tools to identify issues and resolve and/or escalate to Development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with application development and/or scripting on Microsoft .NET platform

  • Experience with automated build and deployment tools such as TeamBuild (TFS), Jenkins, RedGate, CruiseControl or similar

  • Experience with relational DBMS technologies, ideally on Oracle and/or Microsoft platform

  • Experience with version control systems such as MS TFS, GitHub, etc.; familiarity with branching methodologies

  • Knowledge of Web Technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and Web Service concepts

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours for off-hours releases and support

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to apply for public trust government clearance

  • Knowledge and experience with version control systems applied to data base objects

  • Knowledge and experience with build automation and continuous integration

  • Experience coding/scripting (C#, .NET, PL/SQL, DOS, PowerShell)

  • Strong experience with reporting from Microsoft Team Foundation Server

  • Experience working in an agile environment

We steer troubled youth towards a more successful path and do everything possible to keep children in our child welfare system safe. We support individuals who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill, blind, deaf or hard of hearing. EOHHS-IT is seeking to hire a Network Engineer to join the EOHHS-IT Unified Communications team. The Network Engineer is responsible in increasing end user satisfaction as it relates to IT network, telecom, videoconferencing, and collaboration infrastructure. The candidate will be a technical resource and subject matter expert on projects and issues related to Unified Communications (UC), including but not limited to: Cisco switches and routers, MPLS WAN circuits and capacity planning, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM/CallManager), wireless networking, SolarWinds and other network monitoring tools, Cisco Jabber and other softphone applications, Cisco WebEx and other screen-sharing applications, and videoconferencing equipment. The candidate will provide subject matter expertise for strategic IT infrastructure planning, create and maintain technical designs, documentation, and end user training guides, and work to increase end user satisfaction as it relates to EOHHS-IT. The candidate will perform tasks while assuring continuity of change management, quality assurance, performance monitoring, capacity planning, systems engineering, disaster recovery planning, and project management. The candidate will resolve Help Desk tickets and coordinate tasks to be performed by multiple 3rd-party service providers. Like all EOHHS-IT employees, the candidate shall maintain an organized and safe work environment, participate in meetings, perform other related duties, and travel to various sites around Massachusetts as needed or requested. The candidate will occasionally provide after-hours support as authorized and performs all duties in a respectful and professional manner following EOHHS policies and procedures. Responsibilities: * Acts as a technical resource and/or subject matter expert on projects related to Unified Communications (UC), including network infrastructure, telephony, videoconferencing, and collaboration tools. * Responds to and resolves tickets and incidents in accordance with EOHHS IT policies and procedures as they relate to customer support and updates for Unified Communications. * Manages the selection, procurement, installation, upgrade, and decommissioning of UC hardware and software. * Researches and stays abreast of the latest videoconferencing and collaboration tools, services, and philosophies and suggests ways that EOHHS and the Commonwealth can improve UC services. * Researches and stays abreast of the latest network technologies, including VOIP switches, routers, and wireless network components, then recommends the best practices, processes, and solutions available to support end users. * Follows established Change Management processes related to service-affecting disruptions (planned or unplanned). * Works collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team environment to share knowledge and improve the end-user experience. * Provides timely response and support during scheduled and authorized non-business hours to insure continuity of services to the enterprise network. * Installs and moves assets as required. * Manages some small projects related to network infrastructure, Wi-Fi, videoconferencing, cabling, and server room/data closet design. * Helps develop documentation and user training for videoconferencing systems, collaboration tools, and meeting room technologies. * Utilizes automated tools (such as the SolarWinds Orion suite) to manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the network. * Reviews customers' requested new capabilities, assesses available options, and designs recommended solutions. * Supports other IT teams such as Application Development, Server Operations, Security, etc., as a subject matter expert related to UC, VOIP, telephony, network infrastructure, and collaboration technologies. * May occasionally make a presentation for a new solution, technology, or design. * Provides training on UC technologies to other members of EOHHS-IT as well as some end users. * Provides estimates for financial planning of UC expenditures. * Completes all activities within EOHHS security policies and standard practices to ensure the safety and privacy of data, clients, and resources. Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Strong working knowledge of Cisco- and Juniper-based networks and VOIP infrastructure, including Cisco switches, Cisco routers, and TCP/IP. * Proven experience in creating and configuring Local and Wide Area Networks (physical and VLANs). * Working knowledge of design, integration, and support of enterprise wireless networking and videoconferencing equipment in a Microsoft network. * Ability to write and implement scripts appropriate for network management. * Working knowledge and experience with the following: * SolarWinds Orion suite to manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the network. * Microsoft desktop and server operating systems (2003 through current versions) * Active Directory * Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio; working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft Project a plus. * Experience negotiating with IT consulting companies and arranging agreements for delivery of services then monitoring/assuring such delivery. * Familiarity with Blueprints/Architectural Drawings; ability to assess proposals documented in this way and assure they will meet requirements. * Ability to produce and/or modify existing architectural drawings so as to clearly present requirements to vendors. * Familiarity with General Construction terms and practices and ability to represent technical site requirements to landlords and general contractors. * Familiarity with business statistics and creation of charts/tables to present information. * Knowledge and experience with current IT standards and basic security measures/requirements. * Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle and ability to lift up to 35 lbs. & push 65 lbs.
