Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.

Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.

Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.

This is a position for an experienced DevOps engineer to work on the Oracle Social Cloud team. Located in the heart of Austin, Texas, we are a small, dynamic team with a passion for delivering cutting-edge social media applications and machine-learning-based solutions.

We are looking for a senior DevOps engineer who believes in modern infrastructure automation, configuration management techniques and continuous delivery practices. Our vision is to scale our platform and evolve into a truly GitOps-driven team within Oracle's cloud infrastructure.

The ideal candidate would have a strong Redhat/CentOS Linux systems administration background and solid experience working with a modern DevOps tools: Chef, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Puppet.

The Product

Our product helps clients understand in real time what's being said about their brands on the social media stream. This means that we process huge quantities of social media data in dozens of languages.

We've developed a custom data processing pipeline and a proprietary text analytics engine, but to meet customer demands, we're continually evolving these technologies and adding new features. As the sophistication of our analytics services increases, exciting challenges lie ahead.

The Technology Stack

Our product depends runs on Oracle Cloud and relies on technologies like Oracle DB, Solr/Lucene, HBase, Flink, YARN, and Kafka among others. Most of our applications are written in Java and Scala and need to scale to process hundreds of millions of social messages each day.

Required Qualifications

Expertise in Linux Administration using the CLI and basic scripting

Experience using Redhat based Linux distributions (CentOS, Etc.)

A mastery of Chef, or other patch/configuration tools used for automated deployment

Deep knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancers, and proxies

Expertise in GIT based version control

Experience working in a modern cloud environment

Comfortable with a fast moving, agile team

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in RPM & YUM

Familiarity with Java / Scala runtime tuning and debugging

Hands-on experience with Jenkins / Hudson and CI/CD pipelines, managing deployment artifacts

Knowledge of Virtualization/containerization (Vagrant, Docker, VirtualBox, Xen)
