Technology & Systems Department

DevOps & SRE Team

The DevOps & SRE team is responsible for helping other technology teams on their automation journey. We embrace many approaches and technologies to speed up the delivery and operations of our Data Centers. From Zero-Touch provisioning of network equipment to the deployment of applications on containerization platforms, we apply our software and operation industry expertise everywhere we can. We question the status-quo and are not afraid to suggest new ways to do things. Individual contributors are encouraged to speak up, propose new insights and take an active role in the definition of our roadmap.

Position Overview

The DevOps & SRE team automates the installation, configuration, and operation of Vantage Data Centers technology platforms. To support our growth, we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team and help us deliver more automation to our internal customers!

You will be using tools such as Puppet, Ansible and Terraform to implement infrastructure-as-code techniques. You will write scripts in Python, PowerShell or Bash, providing runbooks that will allow people to save time on recurring operations. You will suggest improvements to our current workflows, bring a "there is a better way" demeanor and be a key contributor to our technology automation platform!

Essential Job Functions

• Reduce the time it takes to provision on-premise infrastructure by using Configuration-as-Code to templating the configuration of our various servers types

• Create runbooks, scripts, to reduce manual labor on repetitive tasks

• Work with the other IT teams to resolve how we can improve their existing workflows with the use of automation

• Maintain and operate the tools and platforms that are managed by the SRE team

Duties

• Write roles and profiles to automate the configuration of our Windows and Linux servers

• Build and maintain Windows & Linux virtual machine templates using Packer

• Conceive, operate and maintain a platform for managing the Virtual Machines lifecycle

• Suggest improvements and come up with reliable, efficient solutions

• Share your knowledge and expertise with the SRE team by documenting your work

• Implement standard methodologies for systems automation and operations

• Ensure the availability and security of the tools and platforms handled by the SRE team

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in information technology or equivalent experience required

• 5 years of experience in DevOps or Platform engineering required, 5 to 10 years preferred

• Strong experience using Configuration as Code tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Terraform

• Solid infrastructure background operating Linux and Windows servers in a production environment

• Proficient with multiple scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash...)

• Consistent track record of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI

• Working knowledge of cloud providers and first-hand experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code

• Experience running Kubernetes, Helm, FluxCD is a plus

• Good knowledge of the VMware vSphere ecosystem is a plus

• Good understanding of network (VLANs, firewalls, route tables, VPN...) is a plus

• Expertise with a variety of monitoring and observability platform is a plus

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to work independently

• Travel required is expected to be less than 5%

• Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required
