Our company was founded in 2011 and our headquarters is located in Arlington, Virginia. We are rapidly growing and now looking to staff our brand new Pittsburgh office!

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team in transforming the business of government through data science. You'll be a core member of our Product team in providing our customers with decision grade information across the government market.

What You Will Be Doing

We are passionate about data, we are passionate about code, and we are passionate about the product we offer. We need a skilled and dedicated systems and automation engineer who shares our passion and obsession with quality. As part of our team, you must be a skilled Linux software engineer with a strong understanding of application elements, systems management, automation, and continuous integration.

You will work with diverse technologies to build tools and improve automation of manual operations to craft repeatable processes. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a highly available server infrastructure for deploying instances, applying operating system updates, managing configuration changes, and system tuning.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Manage our current engineering infrastructure; ensuring the environment is properly version controlled and monitored

  • Oversee the development, maintenance, enhancement, and implementation of applications, integrations, and interfaces across our web ecosystem

  • Automate critical systems processes to improve service performance, monitoring, scalability, and overall stability of our platform

  • Refine and improve our continuous integration to streamline deployment and product release cycles

  • Provision and maintain new hosts and services in support of our Product and Data Science teams, including monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving problems

  • Ensure systems and network security

  • Work closely with in-house developers and engineers to knowledge share and improve quality of practices

What You Need for this Position

5+ years of experience with the following:

  • Linux/Unix experience, including command line and shell scripting

  • Hands-on operational AWS experience, including provisioning, managing, and monitoring instances

  • Advanced scripting skills (Shell, Bash, Python)

  • Strong management experience of AWS services (S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda, CloudWatch)

  • Experience implementing Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery Infrastructures (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Travis CI)

  • Experience with Systems Monitoring/Alerting (Nagios, AWS)

  • Experience managing PostgreSQL, Redis, GUnicorn, ElasticSearch/LogStash/Kibana

  • Experience automating systems creation, administrative tasks, notifications

  • Knowledge of systems security and experience managing VPN/PKI infrastructure

  • Experience in or exposure to the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment
