Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate DevOps professional who is interesting in working on the cutting edge and driving transformation across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with public cloud environments, DevOps practices such as automated build and release management, continuous delivery and continuous deployment of high available services. The candidate should also be familiar with the security process automation strategies within a DevOps pipeline. This role will help design, develop and implement a new DevOps pipeline that will be leveraged by multiple applications that are both cloud native and datacenter hosted. We expect the candidate to be hands-on and possess excellent scripting/automation skills in various environments and experience with CI/CD platform (preferably GitLab) and comfortable in a high performing agile organization.

This position is based at GDIT's office at Riverview Center in Menands, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and implement DevOps pipeline using modern tooling across the enterprise

  • Assist applications teams refactor existing legacy application to fit in to the DevOps pipeline

  • Plan, design and develop Security scan /dashboard and help team to triage the results

  • Work with teams to receive feedback and bring continues improvement

  • Understand the SDLC governance needs and implement them in the DevOps pipeline

  • Monitor and manage the health of the DevOps environment. Install configure new tools, work with vendors for additional support etc.

  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations

  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery

  • Consult with peers for feedback during testing stages

  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards

  • Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects

  • Manage CI and CD tools with team

  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes

  • Improve infrastructure development and application development

  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by GDIT

Education:

The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Required Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years or more of IT experience

  • Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations

  • Handle code deployments in all environments

  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve

  • Excellent scripting/automation skills in various environments and experience with CI/CD platform (preferably GitLab)

  • Familiar with the security process automation strategies within a DevOps pipeline

  • Comfortable in a high performing agile organization

  • Experience with containerization, orchestrators like Kubernetes is preferred

  • Experience in working with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) platform is preferred.

  • Strong organization and time management skills while working in a rapid software development environment.

  • Must be able to identify and learn new technologies quickly.

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with public cloud environments

  • Understanding of security authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA),

  • Understanding of encryption standards

  • Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL (PosgreSQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as Bash, Perl, Python,

  • Experience with Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies

  • Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently

Responsibilities The Director for the Bureau of Community Chronic Disease Prevention (BCCDP) provides programmatic and administrative leadership to a broad set of chronic disease programs. This position will direct staff in a variety of activities including public health policy development, development of policies for grantees to implement to advance chronic disease prevention, public health outreach with diverse communities and stakeholders, implementation of health care system interventions, linkages of community programs to clinical services, and coordination of programs with state, local and national public health partners. The Bureau Director works with partners, communities and health systems on policy, systems and environmental changes that support healthy behaviors and reduce risk factors that contribute to chronic disease and improve chronic disease management and control. The Bureau has multiple complex and distinct program areas, including programs to prevent and control diabetes, heart disease, obesity, arthritis, and asthma, as well as programs related to disability and health. The Director oversees of approximately 25 staff and annual state appropriations of approximately $7.8 million and manages approximately $7.5 million annually in federal grant funds.
