Developmental Pre-K Teacher

Teaching Certificate Required: Special Education/Mild Interventions Licensure with Pre-K

Previous Teaching Experience Required: Preferred but not required.

General Description of Position Duties: Serve as Teacher of Record and Teacher of Service by providing Instruction for students in Developmental Pre-Kindergarten

Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desire: Special skills and ability to work within a DPK setting. Utilize IIEP for record keeping and data collection in accordance with Article 7. Must understand and follow the laws, policies, and procedures regarding the Article 7 law. Must understand the Science of Reading, the development progression for reading, writing, math, and social-emotional of students ages 3-5. Provide specially designed curriculum and behavior modification for students with disabilities.

Create a welcoming classroom environment. Create and deliver lesson plans in the classroom. Reflect and edit lesson plans. Enforce classroom and school rules, observe, and evaluate student performance. Work with support personnel assigned to students with academic and social needs. Keep accurate and detailed records of students' performance. Keep parents updated on their children's progress. Be involved with school and school community activities.

Physical and Mental Efforts:

• This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance.

• Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices.

• Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time

• Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another.

• Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students accurately, loudly, or quickly

• Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication.

• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.

• Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
