The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) will become the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) on July 1, 2024. As part of the reorganization, the HCA will have oversight of the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) (which is currently at the New Mexico Department of Health).
The mission of the HCA is to ensure New Mexicans attain their highest level of health by providing whole-person, cost-effective, accessible, and high-quality health care and safety net services. The HCA will serve half of all New Mexicans across the state, including the 7,000+ New Mexicans with developmental and intellectual disabilities who receive home and community-based supports. The HCA is seeking a highly motivated and visionary leader to serve as the Director of DDSD, who will report to the HCA Deputy Cabinet Secretary.
DDSD provides comprehensive support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, overseeing four home and community-based Medicaid waiver programs for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities, including the Developmental Disabilities Waiver, the Medically Fragile Waiver, Mi Via Self-Directed Waiver, and the Supports Waiver. Additionally, DDSD manages the Central Registry for individuals applying for and awaiting services, along with several state funded services.
