Were looking for an experienced technical leader to support and grow our development team in Raleigh, while also continuing to be an individual contributor. Together well build both great products and a great team.

As Development Team Lead, youll provide mentorship and support to the other developers in your office with one-on-ones and reviews. You'll also be working to grow the development team, our reputation in Raleigh, attracting great projects, and working inbound opportunities. Youll work together with the local management team, and global thoughtbot leadership, to manage the business and success of the studio.


Alongside hands-on technical work, you'll be helping to support the Raleigh development team: working with team members on their professional development, hiring new people, and finding new projects. Along with the other Directors in Raleigh, you'll be responsible for profitability of the studio.

thoughtbot web developers are able to rapidly build high-quality web applications in Ruby on Rails or Elixir and Phoenix, fully test-driven. Qualified candidates have an excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Unix, deployment, performance, debugging, refactoring, design patterns, and other programming practices. While Rails experience is a must, we're also rapidly expanding our work into other languages and frameworks.

Very well-qualified candidates will also have experience with consulting, and have a proven track record of attracting potential customers.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary, paid time off, 401k with matching, and health insurance.


We consult for clients four days/week. On Fridays, we work to make ourselves, the company, and our community better by learning new tools and techniques, working on open source, blogging, creating new products, volunteering our time, and more.


We pay 100% of expenses when you speak at conferences and 50% of the cost for attendees. We also pay 50% of all expenses for job-related training.


We work a sustainable pace of 40 hours/week. We have five weeks of vacation time per year, in addition to company holidays and sick days. For new parents, we also have at least 6 weeks paid leave in all locations, as well as the ability to take at least 6 months off.

Do you provide leadership and vision to the team in the areas of project planning, execution, and close-out, financial management, communications; and landmark deliverables? PURPOSE Manage end-to-end delivery of data management services for single/multi-service projects, ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget, to customer happiness. The Data Team lead provides comprehensive data management expertise to Clinical Data Management (CDM) team and superior data management products that meet customer needs. May perform role of DTL, Program Lead, and/or a leadership role in a specific CDM task (e.g. Subject Matter Expert (SME), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), applicable regulatory guidelines, SOPs, policies, and, where available, CDM mentorship). RESPONSIBILITIES Client Management: In this role, you will serve as primary point of contact for customer on data management deliverables. You will provide project management expertise and work with customer data managers, key decision makers, and collaborate with team members to run continuous process improvements, critical issues, workload projections, and provide technical expertise. You will maintain strong customer relationships by, providing justification for and performing direct negotiations with customers on issues regarding timelines, financials, processes, and resources. The DTL ensures open communications with customer and IQVIA management to lead and meet or exceed contractual obligations * Collaborate and meet with Data Operations Coordinators and other team members on a regular basis to ensure achievements meet timelines and quality deliverables * Establish strong communications team members, project managers and all other stake holders * Lead and support DM service delivery with comprehensive DM process and technical expertise in executing projects * Serves as the critical issue point for unresolved data issues; work with client data managers, vendors, internal team members for resolution * Collaborate with functional manager(s) to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to meet project deliverables * Build and/or review and sign-off on all data management plan (DMP) * Implement dedicated quality management plans across multiple projects/programs. Track service performance and provide leadership to identify root causes of issues and implement remedial actions * Continuously look for opportunities to improve service; work with team to develop and implement plan to reorganize and inspire change across multiple projects/programme (with minimal support) * Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of compliance issues * Train and mentor junior-level team members. * Maintain internal tracking databases and systems FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT/BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT: * Ensure service and quality meet agreed upon timelines and deliverables in contract/Scope of Work (SOW) * Manage SOW/budget -Review financial reports on a monthly basis and participate in project reviews as requested and Identify out of scope tasks and track change orders to completion * Serve as Project Manager for single service DM projects, including financial tracking, revenue recognition, and invoicing * Participate in and support RFP process (review RFP documents, pricing, attend bid defense) OTHER: * Independently bring solutions to the CDM team/CDM department * Lead and/or participate in a focus team or global or local standard methodology team * Communicate lessons learned and/or present in CDM workshop(s) * Participate in the development and implementation of new technology or tool * Present at professional conferences and/or publish articles in professional journals * Perform other duties as directed by the functional manager Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree, or educational equivalent, in health, clinical, biological or mathematical sciences, or related discipline, and a minimum of 8 years direct Data Management experience, including 5 or more years as a CDM project lead; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience * Previous experience and shown competence in leading delivery of multiple projects through full DM life-cycle (several studies/programmes) * Demonstrated extensive data management skills and thorough knowledge of the data management process (e.g., therapeutic area, deep understanding in DM processes, SAE reconciliation, external data vendor reconciliation, management of local laboratory data, and/or new technology) * Previous experience of handling customer negotiations * Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, and/or Physiology * Knowledge of operating procedures and work instructions and the ability to apply them in practice * Knowledge of GCP and relevant regulatory guidelines * Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and teamwork skills * Excellent project management skills * Excellent organizational and analytical skills * Comprehensive understanding of clinical drug development process * Occasional travel is required "EEO Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Disabled" Job ID: 1702513 Apply Now Not ready to Apply?
