Duties include but are not limited to:
85% Implement and market the Friends of the Dole Institute program:

Create and develop annual fundraising campaigns and materials targeting prospective and current individual and corporate annual donors by working closely with the Director and Director of Development to meet established funding goals, including:

  • Prospect identification, donor cultivation, gift solicitation, and stewardship opportunities for prospective and current annual donors (individual and corporate).

  • Create and prepare sponsorship proposal material and make presentations alone or in conjunction with Development Director for the Dole Institute (KU Endowment) or Director to prospective corporate donors.

  • Solicit new and renewing gifts for annual Friends membership campaign and oversee individual and corporate campaigns in coordination with Dole Institute administration and Development Director for the Dole Institute (KU Endowment).

  • Ensure Friends are acknowledged and thanked on a weekly basis.

  • Coordinate with KU Endowment Annual Giving Department and Development Director for the Dole Institute (KU Endowment) for donor information and records.

  • Work with Marketing and Communications staff on design, content and production to ensure consistent branding and promotion of the Friends program.

  • Extend dinner invitations, coordinate RSVP guest lists and make arrangements for special seating when appropriate.

  • Coordinate and execute the annual Friends dinner program and bi-annual Friends Reception.

  • Look for and create special engagement opportunities for Friends and steward individual relationships.

  • Conduct outreach to stimulate interest and involvement with the Friends program, including: attending events with specific Friends-related activities; event planning and logistics for Friends recruitment events and activities; working with Dole Institute Archive staff to create outreach opportunities such as museum and archive tours; and presenting the Dole Institute story at Rotaries, public service organizations, and other outside organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce.
    15% Cultivation of sponsors for public program and institute events

  • Seek additional funding from corporations, pay to play events and other avenues as mutually agreed by Development Director and Director.

  • Work with relevant institute staff to ensure recognition is given to event sponsors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, plus minimum of one year experience in fundraising, event planning and/or marketing.

  • Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.

  • Previous experience which required the skill to prioritize and organize duties in an efficient manner as demonstrated by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past activities and/or experiences with Senator Bob Dole and/or the Dole Institute.

  • At least one year professional experience fundraising or marketing for a foundation or non-profit organization.

  • Ability to work independently and on a team as evidenced by application materials.

  • Knowledge of or experience in direct response and internet fundraising as evidenced by application materials.

VIEW JOBS 4/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-16T00:00 Job Description 55% - Coordination of Professional Development Events: * Coordinate the development, marketing and delivery of law enforcement continuing education and specialized law enforcement seminars, courses, classes, workshops, schools and other training-related events being held on and off the KLETC campus. * Executes the KLETC's business strategy by offering seminars, workshops, schools, courses and classes on a variety of law enforcement related topics. * Researches and develops law enforcement professional development training classes and seminars to local, state and federal law enforcement officers. * Determines audio-visual equipment needs, instructional supplies, participant supplies and various staff/instructional needs for training events. * Recruits subject matter experts as instructors and negotiates terms of contracts. * Directs and manages logistics at the training program event. Activities include but are not limited to registrations, classroom set-up, instructional needs and primary contact with regard to participant concerns. * Manages program assessment by designing, conducting, interpreting and reporting evaluations from training events. Travels to external training locations. Evaluates success of program offerings and reports findings to the management team. * Responsible for making independent decisions regarding unanticipated contingencies associated with the program. * Develop marketing strategies for promoting continuing education and specialized training programs. * Develop training brochures and other promotional documents for dissemination to Kansas's law enforcement agencies. * Identify, negotiate and coordinate off campus training sites. Prepare reports, correspondence, charts, graphs and other documents related to assigned responsibilities and duties. * Significant travel including overnight stays and multiple destinations required to perform the responsibilities and duties assigned to this position. * Establish short and long term goals relative to assigned areas of responsibility. * Assist in the development of the professional development department annual budget. * Procure and administer grant and/or endowment funding for the development, marketing or delivery of professional development training programs. * Perform team-level strategic planning. 15% - Education Technology Management: * Serves as subject matter expert for audio/video technology used in classroom or remote settings, to include troubleshooting and resolving problems. * Recommend and implement technological initiatives to support training. * Monitor the KLETC professional development web site postings for accuracy and ensure that they are up-to-date. 15% - Represent KLETC in the Law Enforcement Community: * Represent KLETC at conferences; serve on commissions, committees or boards. * Actively participate in partnerships with the Kansas law enforcement community and professional law enforcement associations as directed by the management team. * Working with event planning committees to develop and implement law enforcement association conference programs; * Coordinate distance learning programs, classes, courses, etc. with other law enforcement agencies or organizations to ensure maximum customer service. * Maintain professional appearance in attire, hygiene and demeanor in compliance with applicable policies while representing KLETC. 10% - Assist with Registration Duties: * Enroll students in professional development classes. * Reviews registrations to ensure accuracy and contacts enrollees if additional information is needed. * Communicate with students, agency heads, etc. to answer questions or provide needed assistance regarding continuing and professional development classes. * Handle sensitive and confidential information. * Schedule classrooms. * Notifies staff of all upcoming classes. * Makes dorm room assignments for professional development students and guest instructors. Responsible for Welch Hall Dormitory key inventory. Prepares meal tickets, as needed for students attending classes on KLETC campus. * Prepares printed materials, such as class rosters, name tents, handouts, certificates of attendance, etc. as needed for professional development courses. * Sets up classrooms as needed. * Manage accounts receivable process for the professional development department. 5% - Other Duties: * Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the management team. Required Qualifications * Master's degree or Baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations in the United States and three years related experience; * Excellent communication skills as evidenced by work history and application materials submitted; * Experience with presentation software applications, especially PowerPoint; * Experience organizing, managing and supervising multiple and varied tasks and projects as demonstrated by education, work history and application material; * Valid Kansas Driver's License.
