Title: Development Specialist

Supervised by: Director of Communications and Development

Classification: Full-time, Salaried, exempt

Salary: $72,000

Position Summary: The Development Specialist is part of a collaborative and creative team tasked with inviting the broader community to learn about and invest in Jubilee's life-transforming work. They play a key role in maintaining relationships with Jubilee's supporters and maximizing fundraising efforts by managing a donor database. The person in this position also provides executive level support to the Director of Communications and Development, participates in planning and executing outreach and fundraising events, and collaborates with the Finance department to track donations.

This position requires at least three days of in person work in Jubilee's Kensington, Maryland office. Some occasional evening and weekend work will be required to support team events.

Responsibilities

Manage the gift recording and acknowledgement process for donations, ensuring all donors receive accurate, timely acknowledgement letters compliant with tax law.

  • Become an expert in Jubilee's database (Bloomerang). Proactively suggest ways to enhance efficiency or quality of work and implement new systems. Analyze data and share recommendations.

  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate data entry and reporting. Reconcile monthly reports from Finance. Assist the Director in developing event and departmental budgets.

  • Manage data hygiene, including entering new contacts, managing and segmenting mailing lists, and conducting regular data reviews to clean up out of date information.

  • Track and report on donor moves management for Development staff and the Executive Director, including assigning and following up on donor cultivation tasks.

  • Assist the Director in tracking grant proposal and reporting timelines. Collect data and other information needed for grants as assigned.

  • Efficiently manage the department's digital documents on SharePoint.

  • Manage department projects by creating and updating Monday.com boards and following up with assignees to track progress.

  • Assist in managing calendar, email and calls for the Director, schedule meetings and handle related logistics, arrange travel, assist with other administrative tasks such as expense reports.

  • Be a team player across the organization and participate in regular meetings of primary team, management team, agency wide, strategic planning, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Related professional and/or volunteer experience. (Fundraising, communications, marketing, data analysis, etc.)

  • Desire to work with and learn from people who have intellectual disabilities.

  • Experience using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database and/or an affinity for data and analytics. Experience using Bloomerang a plus.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to plan strategically for multi-step, long-term projects.

  • Proficiency with commonly used office technology such as videoconferencing, MS Office suite, etc. Experience using Monday.com a plus.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation: $72,000 and competitive benefits including four weeks' vacation, health/dental/life/disability, student loan assistance, paid parental leave, retirement, $1000 annual staff development fund, periodic reimbursement of vacation expenses, and much more.
