Serving as an integral part of the Development (fundraising) Department, this position functions as a member of the development operations and research teams. The Associate ensures the integrity of all gifts and data entered into the Raisers Edge database management system and provides prospect identification and research support for the Department.

  • Coordinate and prioritize day-to-day gift processing activities and data entry procedures

  • Ensure the accurate processing of checks, credit cards, stocks, wire transfers, and in-kind gifts. Audit daily gift batches.

  • Oversee production of donor receipts and acknowledgments. Analyze the efficiency of this process and make changes as necessary.

  • Process gift corrections and adjustments.

  • Research, enter, and maintain biographical and gift data in the development gift information system (Raiser's Edge). Process database record requests, ensure accuracy of data, and audit work done by colleagues.

  • Maintain database integrity with daily audits and duplicate record cleanup.

  • Run data queries and exports; develop, produce and maintain reports in Excel and Crystal Reports for analysis.

  • Prepare mailing lists based on established criteria and donor lists for email and USPS mailings.

  • Provide operational support, which includes registration, auction, gift processing, and volunteer oversight, for special events.

  • Create and manage gift reports for the Development Office and Hospital Departments.

  • Create and maintain ImportOMatic profiles specifically for gift entry, post-event guest information and prospect research.

  • Serve as a liaison between Operations/Research and other Development teams on gift and database inquiries.

  • Supports the research needs and requests of fundraisers and fundraising teams.

  • Researches prospects via online and print sources.

  • Analyzes biographical, financial, news, philanthropic and other relevant data to create well-written, comprehensive and accurate research products.

  • Assesses the philanthropic potential and capacity of prospects.

  • Proactively identifies and qualifies new prospects for all teams, primarily the Major Gift and Cause and Event Marketing teams.

  • Maintains the professional and ethical standards set forth for the field by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA). Adheres to ethical and confidentiality guidelines.

  • Maintain policies and procedures for gift processing and research activities.

  • Deal with an extensive array or confidential matters involving staff, donors and volunteers related to the marketing and fundraising efforts of BMC. Safeguards the confidentiality of donor information at all times.

  • Assists the Director of Research with processes and materials related to the Nominating and Governance Committee.

  • Assist the Director of Operations and Director of Research with other duties as necessary.

Job Description Job Summary: Recent FSA accountable for supporting pricing, product, valuation, modeling, or risk/finance functions within a business area. Acts as a mentor/coach to actuarial students and Assistant Actuary grade 17. Individual Accountabilities: * Supports a specialization function within a business area (100%) Product * Lead aspects of projects within the department * Lead and manage pricing aspect of new products during the design, development, launch and monitoring stages. * Ensure profitability of new products and product features comply with corporate guidelines and regulatory environment. * Recommend Assumptions relevant to product design * Maintain pricing tools for products within Associate Actuary's purview, including documentation * May lead a team of actuarial students * Provide actuarial support to both Marketing and Administrative areas. * Lead/participate in adhoc projects as necessary (e.g. innovation, tax, infrastructure, etc) * Understand department deliverables and organize own work to achieve results * Understand implications of results and recommend next steps * Consider cause and effect relationships, i.e. the impact of changes in different variables on the end results. * Apply intuition regarding expected results of model and hypothesize causes when results are unexpected * Drive significant improvement within the department by obtaining key management buy in Job Requirements: * Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability combined with very strong technical actuarial skills. * Risk management focus, with ability to see beyond traditional measures and identify emerging issues. * Ability to respond to changing demands from multiple stakeholders and prioritize needs and results while working under deadline pressure * Knowledge of IFRS, US Statutory and US Tax accounting bases including earnings emergence, deferred taxes, and capital, as well as the various profit metrics used in pricing. * Strong general programming skills and ability to develop organized, creative and consistent solutions to diverse and complex problems * Experience with US individual life insurance (product development or valuation) an asset * Practical experience with Axis Decision Authorities: * Prioritizing and reprioritizing work deliverables and projects * General modeling approach * Managing internal and external resources to achieve targets if applicable * Detail documentation for product requirements and filing products Location: Boston, MA - preferred; Canada - available for consideration Relocation: not supported JOHN HANCOCK IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - AA/F/M/D/V #LI-JH-JHC If you are ready to unleash your potential it's time to start your career with Manulife/John Hancock.
