Vice President for Institutional Advancement Job SummaryThe Development Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors.
The Officer will be instrumental in developing relationships with alumni, parents, friends, and businesses to secure private funding through annual, special, and major gifts.
Frequent travel is required.
The Officer will also participate in campus-wide development projects/activities, special events, donor prospect research, equipment and special programs funding, and future campaigns.

Qualify, cultivate, and solicit alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations for current and deferred gifts through annual and monthly action plans using moves management steps.Maintain an average of 10 contacts per month, requiring a significant number of cold calls each week.Track progress by preparing contact reports, electronic and hard copy updates to the prospects/donors records in an appropriate and timely fashion.Work closely with the President, VPIA and Development team to prepare potential donors for solicitation.Work directly with the VPIA in setting and achieving personal performance goals.Provide written travel and actions plans.Generate proposals and solicitation materials as needed.Attend community events, participate in town/gown activities, help to steward current donors, and help to cultivate and attract new supporters to Lincoln College.Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 75 - 125 key prospects/donors for the purpose of soliciting unrestricted, project specific and planned major gifts.Provide appropriate staffing for the President, Trustees, other administrators, and faculty at Advancement/Alumni events and other College activities.Coordinate major giving activities with other development strategies i.e.
annual and planned giving.Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Required Education and Experience1.
A minimum of a bachelors degree2.
At least 5 years of major gift fundraising experience and/or relevant experience in sales and marketing or other related fields.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSolid knowledge of PC systems and operations to ensure access and appropriate utilization of Lincoln Colleges primary prospect-tracking software.
Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare proposals, reports and correspondence are necessary.A self-starter demonstrating initiative, creativity, and ability to think broadly but with an eye to details.Requires travel and the ability to work frequent evenings and weekends.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.The College values the demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including alumni, staff, students, volunteers, and donors.Ability to organize, establish priorities, set objectives and achieve stated goals; and the ability to adapt to change.
PreferredAn advanced degree

Familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers Edge software or similar fundraising constituentrelationship management system.Planned giving experience is a plus.LC alumna/us encouraged to apply.
Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
