The Pacific NW Chapter proudly serves the T1D communities of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

This is an opportunity to join a strong team and work closely with the PNW Gala Development Director and local volunteer leadership, regional teams and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the PNW Gala.

The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who is responsible for the management and implementation of the full event lifecycle. They will grow the Gala's revenue through corporate, individual, volunteer, and other community involvement.

The Development Manager will focus on acquisition, retention, and upgrade of existing Gala donors to impact the Breakthrough T1D Vision of Creating a World Without T1D.

The position is based in Seattle with a hybrid in office/offsite work schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of Breakthrough T1D.

  • Understand the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and support Breakthrough T1D's fundraising strategies and business needs.

  • Supports the development and implementation of the Breakthrough T1D PNW Gala, under the direction of the Gala Development Director and other local leadership, and in collaboration with the resource team and volunteer leadership.

  • Driving revenue by sourcing, cultivating, soliciting and closing fundraising opportunities, while stewarding current partners to renew and grow partnership

  • Lead procurement efforts and increase revenue year over year for PNW Gala auction including working with Gala Committee to secure items, auction data entry, and launching auction website

  • Soliciting event sponsorship for annual Breakthrough T1D PNW Gala

  • Developing sponsorship packages, proposals and sponsorship fulfillment reports.

  • Manage events and donor development activities. Develop annual plans for assigned activities, including goals, objectives and follow-up.

  • Partner with the Development Director and other local leadership to identify, solicit, recruit and develop volunteers for assigned committees. Assume primary responsibility for key Development activities in partnership with appropriate team members.

  • Builds positive relationships with committee/event volunteers, donors and prospects.

  • Develops and oversees critical paths, data management, sponsorship deliverables, donor recognition and acknowledgment.

  • Plan and coordinate meetings, agendas, and activities. Prepare presentations, materials, and reports.

  • Manage and maintain accurate and complete financial records. Ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are met for each assigned activity.

  • Ensure accurate recording of information in database, file system, and/or records. Create, update, and revise as needed.

  • Respond to and follow through with inquiries, needs, complaints and/or issues in a prompt and courteous manner.

  • Maintain steady communication between team members and committee leaders.

  • Maintain basic understanding of Breakthrough T1D's mission and research cure therapeutics.

Qualifications:

  • College degree or combination of education and experience.

  • At least 4 years of work experience including 2+ years fundraising and event management or relevant business/volunteer experience, Gala experience preferred.

  • Strong CRM database knowledge, Salesforce preferred.

  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to collaborate as a team player, who is passionately driven to exceed targets and go that extra mile.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding service and an exceptional event experience to donors and volunteers.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple logistical priorities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.

  • Ability to create and manage processes that enhance efficiency of staff work while allowing for donor centricity.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

  • Detail oriented.

  • Works well within a matrix structure where more than one individual is providing guidance, feedback, counsel and support.

  • Ability to travel within the chapter footprint. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
