Compensation: $66,560 - $68,000
Program Hours: M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Manager is responsible for a range of activities to support fundraising and marketing processes and initiatives, as well as administrative support for the department. The Development Manager is a keystone member of the team, with a concentration leading annual fund, special events, and donor stewardship initiatives.

This position is responsible for effective and efficient use of resources and the donor management system to measure and achieve development goals. In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Marketing, this position will help maintain external fundraising communications, digital and social media content planning and development to meet strategic objectives, increase brand awareness and ensure brand integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising
Development Program Management

Maintain DonorPerfect and Constant Contact donor databases, and effectively utilize both databases through accurate entry, advanced reports, and integrated communication options.
Oversee accurate gift processing standards, including timely gift entry and acknowledgement and integrity of data.
Manage all aspects of the annual End of Year Holiday Campaign/Toy Drive, including creating print and online promotional content, program wish lists, coordinating donation drop-offs, and special donor acknowledgments.
Ensure all donors are acknowledged in a timely manner.
Manage a pipeline of donors to welcome supporters in at every level.
Implement an annual strategy for cultivating and stewarding donors through mailings, social media, events, targeted appeals, email, and other innovative techniques that can attract a diverse range of donors.

Events

Manage all aspects of special events, golf tournaments, VIP Event, Associate Board fundraising events including creating invitations, developing online registration forms, managing RSVPs and guest inquiries, creating print and online promotional content, coordinating logistics with venue staff, recruiting/managing volunteers, solicit and manage items for live and silent auctions, and developing budgets.
Recruit and manage volunteer recruitment.
Track both expense budgets and revenue forecasts for multiple development functions; submit permit requests and post-event reports.
Coordinate events of various sizes while engaging stakeholders.
Assist with all pre-event and day-of logistics for special events, including signature fundraising and special events.
As needed, work with event vendors and consultants.
Ensure the agencys presence at events conveys its mission, services, and needs.

Marketing

Development and updating of messaging materials as part of marketing & communications strategy.
Support production of publications, including newsletters, brochures, event invitations and campaign materials; as well as other collateral materials and promotional items.
Support, enhance the media and social media presence.
Design, draft, edit fundraising collateral/content that is on-brand, effective, meets requirements and is appropriate for target audiences. Materials may include brochures, display advertising, press kits, fact sheets, presentations, event invitations/materials, success stories/testimonials, photos, and video.
Planning, content development and execution of social media across multiple platforms.
Collaborate with VP of Marketing & Communications, ECF programs and staff to create content calendar, draft to promote ECF monthly digital newsletter.
Draft, edit website(s) and digital communications as needed.

Other Duties

Comply with ECFs Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Observe regular, on-site work hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelors Degree

Experience:

3+ years of experience in fundraising, special events, donor communication, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge and experience. Intensive experience with a shorter period may be considered.

Demonstrated experience using donor database systems, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
Minimum of one year experience in media relations, marketing, communications, or related field.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

High degree of personal /professional responsibility. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and deadlines.
Ability to manage time and work effectively to meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Dedicated team player with ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff at all levels.
Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information.
Experience using WordPress and Constant Contact, DonorPerfect, and Google Analytics.
Experience using design software including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator), Canva, and social scheduling software and analytics; e-Clincher.
Advanced-level skills using MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Excellent proofreading and strong attention to detail.
Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, and a desire to make a difference in service to others.

Requirements

Valid California drivers license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
Pass a DOJ background investigation.
Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
Pass a pre-employment physical.
Comply with ECFs Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.

Work Environment

Work site is in a building shared with a school for students (grades K12th) who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress, or behaving in an aggressive manner.

Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, varying indoor temperature, and drafts. Outdoor temperature and weather will vary. Occasionally required to travel to various sites within Los Angeles County.
